"Yes, I am. Plus I'm not much of a heel person."
"You might want to get used to it."
"What do you mean?" I massaged my feet to relieve some of the tension there.
"We have these barbecues frequently, not to mention you'll also have to go to these type of parties at other packs but not as often."
"Great! Can't wait." I replied with fake enthusiasm making Lily laugh.
"It's the cost to being mated to the most powerful person in the pack."
Before I could say anything else she walked away and soon after Ryan walked over. When I was having a conversation with a few of the older ladies in the pack he kissed my cheek and told me that he was going to go play a game of football with a few of the guys. I wanted him to stay but I didn't want to come off as clingy. As soon as he walked away the women gushed on how lucky I was to be mated to the Alpha before bringing up us having 'pups' soon, I took that as my time to excuse myself.
"Did I tell you how beautiful you look today?"
I smiled brightly. "Thank you. You look very handsome yourself."
This morning when we first came down I hadn't gotten a good chance to look at him because of how nervous I was. He wore white dress pants with a pale blue button down, and a midnight blue suit jacket. His outfit was the right amount of dressy and casual, perfect for this event.
"Well thank you." He sat down in the chair next to mine and pulled me closer to him to wrap his arms around my shoulders. "And thank you for being so understanding."
"For understanding? What do you mean?" I frowned.
"Yes. I know this is all new for you, and I appreciate how well you have reacted to all these new changes in your life."
I lead forward to peck his lips. "Anything for you."

We stayed at the party until sundown before heading to Liz's gathering. I decided that changing into flats was the best idea for me if I wanted to survive the rest of this evening. I was beyond surprise when we made it to the small sushi restaurant/ bar when Liz had said go out I had assumed she meant to a club.
Liz and her date were seated in the small lounge area with blue fish bowls filled with what I was guessing were alcohol.
Charles was a nice looking man. Tall, dark hair, nice teeth, and a muscular fique. He seems a few years older than Liz but he definitely didn't look it. We all sat down and Ryan and I ordered a drink, both being nonalcoholic.
"You're both really dress up." Liz pointed out.
"Yes, we just came back from a...." I trailed off.
"One of my families' parties." Ryan finished for me.
"Oh, you guys sure do have a lot of parties." She noted before taking a big gulp of her fish bowl drink.
"Yes, you should come to the next one." I was rather surprised that he invited her. I wasn't so sure how that would work with most of his parties being full of pack wolves.
"Sure, why not."
Shortly after the waiter came over and we all ordered our different types of sushi. As we waited for our food we had gotten to know Charles. Despite my preconceived thoughts, he turned out to be a cool guy. He was quiet but when he had something to say it was always valuable to the conversation. In my opinion, he balanced Liz out, she wasn't as crazy and for once she seemed on track. Even with the baggage that Liz brought with her to the relationship, he didn't seem to mind, and I could tell that he cared a lot about her.
