"I'm not really sure. Mason went to go help but he's on his way back now. She explained.
"Okay." I paused. I was entirely shocked that she would call to warn me but I appreciated it. Maybe she was a better Alpha than Mason. "Thanks for the call," I said before ending the call.
"What's going on? Who was that?" Alex asked frantically. I noticed that there was a bit of dried up slob on her face and if we weren't in a crazy situation right now I would have pointed it out.
Before responding I reached over to give her a quick peck. "It was Hailee. The war is going on tonight." I jumped out of bed and pulled on a pair of dark jeans.
"Like right now?"
"Yes, Luna April has been kidnapped and there are rogues near our borders."
"What should I do?" She rubbed the sleep from her eyes. We had just gotten back a couple of hours ago and I was sure that she was still tired. But the war was going on and there was nothing we could do to stop it.
"You can start off by getting dressed." I kissed her once again. "I'll meet you downstairs."
"Every pack fighter to my house, now. Women and children to the pack house and in the basement security room." I sent a mind link to everyone in the pack.
Within a couple of minutes, Tyler had been at the front door. "What happen?"
"The rogues have kidnapped Luna April and who knows what their next move is. Where's your mate?"
"At the packhouse."
"Great. I need you to take Alex over there. Since your mate is a bit more familiar with things her and my mother will be running the show."
Usually during a war, I would be in charge of the men and women who were pack fighters while in battle. The Luna of the pack would take care of all the women and children of the pack. But because Alex in new to this world she wouldn't know how to handle things. Avery, on the other hand, is very familiar with what goes on during wars.
"I'll tell her right away." He said just as Alex emerged down the stairs dressed in a simple pair of jeans and a t-shirt. I met her at the bottom of the stairs.
"Tyler is going to take you to the pack house," I told her.
"Okay." She muttered nervously. I knew this was a lot for her to take in, but I needed her to be okay because if she wasn't then I wouldn't be able to focus on killing the rogues.
"Ryan? They're gone, just come back."
"No. I almost have them." I stubbornly told him as I closed my mind link off so that no one could interrupt me anymore but unfortunately, it was too late. I had lost them. Spotting some of their paw prints I followed the trail until it led me to run into a wolf who scent I instantly recognized.
He shifted back into his wolf and put on his shorts that were tied to his leg. I did the same putting on my jeans. "What are you doing here?" Mason asked me.
"I could ask you the same thing." If I could guess, I would say that we were at the halfway point between both of our territories.
"I'm on my way back from Alpha Caine territory." He told me and waited for me to answer his question.
"There was rogues on my territory I chased them here." He looked me up and down, finding no injuries on my body.
"And?" He asked annoyed.
I rubbed the back of my neck. Here I was about to admit that I couldn't keep up with two rogues, I would be more embarrassed if I hadn't known how shitty an Alpha, Mason was. "I lost their scent."
