Her eyes shifted to Ryan and when she turned back to me I noticed tears filled in her eyes. "Um, you okay there?" I asked awkwardly.
"I'm such a crybaby." She wiped under her eyes. "A few weeks ago Mason was attacked by Max and I remember really thinking he was gonna die. Top five worst days of my life." She explained.
"Um-."
She laughed cutting me off. Her quick changes in her mood make me somewhat think she was going through a manic. "I didn't mean to make things awkward seeing your mate and seeing you at his side like this kind of gave me a flashback of that day." She paused, "Even though right before he had broken my heart, finding out that he was hurt nearly broke me."
"How did you get through it?" I asked letting curiosity get the best of me.
"Love and knowing that I didn't want nor could I live without him. I know everything is at its worse right now but everything going to be alright."
"Thanks, Hailee." I stood up to hug her. Her sharing her story with me definitely made me feel better and it's just another way to confirm that she really is a genuine girl who I could see myself being friends with.
She smiled, "Well I should get going I have a few funeral arrangements to make." She picked up a bag full of my dirty clothes. "I can wash these and have them back to you later."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
ALPHA RYAN
I woke up to a steady sound of a beeping noise. It took me a great amount of time before my eyes readjusted but eventually I was able to open my eyes to see that I was in an unfamiliar dark room, the only light being from the TV which was playing a rerun of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Looking around I noticed a figure lying on a pullout couch covered by a white sheet.
Sniffing out the room I was instantly able to pick up Alex's scent. Her wild curls were spread across the pillow as her light snores filled the room.
Slowly the memories started to come back. From the set up to the killing of my father, the fight with Max and mine and Mason's pack coming to rescue us and all the way leading up to the three wolves attacking me and being saved by Mason. If Mason hadn't killed those wolves it would have definitely been the end of me considering I was already bleeding out. The thought of dying in that moment and never seeing my mate or family again would have driven me into insanity.
"Alex?" I yelled out, hoping to get her to wake up. With all the stuff I was hooked up to it was impossible for me to move. She stirred in her sleep but did not wake up. "Alex sweetie wake up," I said a bit louder, this time, making her eyes immediately pop open. "Alex!"
"This is Dr. Leah, of the Moon... Light pack." She looked to Leah for confirmation who only nodded her head. "Because you were losing so much blood we had to bring you here." I was feeling sort of uneasy about being in my enemy's territory. At any point, they could have possibly killed me. This also could be some sort of sick joke that they were planning.
"Nice to meet you, Alpha Ryan." She shook my hand before listing off my injuries that I had suffered from. Despite my lack of trust, it seems as if I was in perfectly good hands especially considering I was still alive. Once I thanked her for all her hard work she gave me some pain meds to deal with the pain that I was feeling before going to check on other patients.
"You feeling better." Alex threaded her hands through my hair.
"Yeah. How's everyone?" I asked despite my dread to hear the answer.
She sighed, "Their, um coping."
"Mom?" I asked hesitantly.
"Avery said she haven't left her bed in days, she's barely eating, crazy mood swings. Lily and Ellie are here too; they've been doing a lot of stress eating and movie marathons."
