Chapter 411
Before he could utter another word, Madeline seized the chair and slammed it down on him again. The solid wood chair came crashing down on him, and Matthew instantly collapsed to the floor, knocked out cold.
Madeline panted heavily, her chest heaving as she stared at Matthew, sprawled across the floor with blood streaming from his head. She was still gripping the chair, unable to bring herself to let it go.
Only after she cautiously nudged him with her foot and confirmed he was truly unconscious did she finally drop the chair.. Exhaustion washed over her, and she collapsed to the ground.
She buried her face in her hands, her shoulders shaking as gut–wrenching sobs poured out uncontrollably.
Even though she had always known her parents only cared about Miguel, actually being tricked and sold off by her family cut her deeper than she had ever imagined.
‘They’re my family. How could they do this to me? It’s all because of that damn bitch! If Jessica hadn’t leaked my address and told them I had money, none of this would’ve happened. It’s all her fault,‘ Madeline fumed inwardly.
At this though, her hatred for Jessica only deepened.
After a long while, once she’d regained her strength, Madeline forced herself upright. She kicked Matthew viciously to make sure he stayed down. Then, she clawed at her arms, leaving red welts, and tugged her dress further out of place, making herself look

Still lingering outside the private room, the Houghtons immediately rushed over and yanked the door open upon hearing this.
“What happened? How did Mr. Hughes pass out?” Miguel shouted, rushing into the private room.
“I–I don’t know!” Madeline stammered, feigning terror. “Mom, Dad, hurry and check on him. I’m so scared.”
Her convincingly terrified act worked perfectly. The trio dropped their guard completely, overwhelmed by worry for Matthew. Peter shoved her aside roughly and rushed into the room. “Useless trash! Get out of the way.”
“Okay,” Madeline murmured submissively. The moment the trio stepped into the private room, she suddenly slammed the door shut, dragged a large potted plant in front to block it, then dashed off without looking back.
Madeline sprinted through the lobby, drawing shocked stares from onlookers. In her frantic escape, she was far too exhausted to care if she was being caught on camera.
Madeline thought, ‘I need to rush home right now, pack my things, and move out.’
If her parents had dared to sell her off once, there would surely be a second time. If she stayed, they would eventually sell her off for real. Even if she had to forfeit her remaining
and deposit, she had to leave.
With that, Madeline bolted out of the hotel.
Meanwhile, across the street, Jessica had just stepped out of her car when she caught sight of that familiar figure. Frowning, she
