Jennifer POV
I came home super excited it was my first day at college and I wanted to tell my parent everything. I got in the house yelling "mummm I'm home"
Her reply was she's in the kitchen so I went in, my mother is cooking yum, I can see she made her famous meat loaf, salad, and other appetizers.
"Mum you didn't have to cook all this for me" ~jenny
"Haha it's not just for you silly we are having guest over at dinner" ~mother
"Guest whom?" I ask suspiciously I don't like strangers in my own house.
"Baby it's the guy your father work with, he's been super patient and he's done a big favor taking your father in" my mother inform me , my father George used to work in a warehouse, it didn't pay him much and it was physically exhausting. Now he started a new job in a garage, I'm not overly happy about having my dad boss over for dinner, but I'm not gonna let it kill my good mood.
I was setting the table humming a happy tune when the front door opened and came to my father and none other than holden.
Holden!! I panic, he's my father boss, what if he kick my father out just for being my father , what if he says something to me, I'm standing there lost in my thought when dad hand land on my shoulder
"You okay munchkins" dad asks and I just nod my eyes still on holden.
"This is my daughter Jennifer and my wife Theresa, girls this holden he's the owner of the garage and a packmate" ~father
My mum shakes Holden hand, welcoming him to our home with a big smile while I'm still standing there like an idiot, move idiot move, I scold myself.
"Pleasure to meet you, and i met jenny once before in the pack lunch, it's good to see you again pretty red" ~holden
My cheeks are burning, I can only imagine how red they became, holden is nothing but friendly the whole dinner, he chats with my parent, he seems to be genuinely having a good time. He asks about my first day at college, my shattering has died I only nod saying it was a good day without elaboration.
After dinner was over I help my mum with the dishes and escape to my room saying I was tired and was going to bed early. Holden gave me a big genuine smile and said good night to me.
I run upstairs and hide under the cover this isn't happening, he didn't just follow me home. I think about texting Nala she's my friend, I send her a msg but get no reply she's probably busy with her mates.
I'm sitting in bed dreading my whole life when my phone signals a new msg, I jump thinking it's Nala.
"Hey jenny how are you? I was wondering would you like to have lunch with me tomorrow?
Ethan"
Oh my god I can't believe Ethan just asked me on a date, he's human but he knows about shifters, he's safe.
I try not to overthink it and send a msg.
"What are you doing here" I talk through my teeth
"Having...lunch with my...friend" jenny reply.
"Let's go " i say and take her hand and drag her out
"What's your problem....let me gooo" she yell at me. I don't let her go, I keep my hold on her hand and drag her out of the dinner, I'm still mad, I don't understand why, but my wolf can't take seeing her with another male.
"Let me go let me go" she screams and I keep ignoring her and dragging her with me.
"Look i don't know what's your problem , i don't know what others have told you, but you have to let me go" ~jenny
"What do you mean what others told me?? You are mine little red" I say shocking myself, and it all makes sense now to me.
"I'm not yours, I can never be, I haven't shifted yet and I might never do so stop tormenting me," she says and cries.
I don't know what to do, her words are like a cold buckle of water over my head. She didn't shift, it's why she ran away when i asked her to go on a run with me.
I'm taken by the news and she slip from my hold and run .
