Naturally, Zayne had only said that out of anger, but regardless of his reasoning, his words still pissed Xavia off!
“I beg your pardon? What’s wrong with marrying a divorced woman? At the end of the day, she only asked for that divorce because of how unkind her husband was! With that said, please don’t look down on my friend!”
“…Come again? When had I ever looked down on her?” muttered Zayne who was mostly just salty by this point.
Sneering in response, Xavia then looked away, prompting Zivon to say, “Hey, don’t anger my wife.”
…So that was how it was, huh? Now that he was married, he prioritized his wife over his brothers! Feeling defeated, Zayne sighed before grumbling, “…Fine, just… Carry on with your conversation, then. I’m leaving.”
Just as his hand touched the knob, however, Zayne suddenly said, “…Oh. Almost forgot. Regarding vomiting during pregnancy… It’s honestly as normal as menstruation cycles, so Xavia will have to go through the pain no matter what. That is, unless you’re capable of creating a solution, Zivon. Until that happens, stop bullying our doctors. They have it rough enough.”
“Bullying? If your doctors can’t handle a bit of shouting, then maybe you need to re-evaluate the doctors you’re hiring,” scoffed Zivon.
Knowing that he would never be able to win against Zivon, Zayne simply sighed before heading off. With how bummed he was feeling, he failed to notice Dolly who had been hiding behind one of the large potted plants in the hallway…
The thing was, it hadn’t taken her long to get the flowers, and after returning, she was just in time to hear the bulk of their conversation… He would never marry a divorced woman, huh…? Then again, it made sense. After all, he came from a family of great doctors. Why would he ever want to get involved with an ordinary woman like her? Thank God she knew her place… Otherwise, she would’ve surely felt hurt all over again…
Either way, Xavia remained at the hospital till about nine in the evening before finally feeling better enough to head home. Thanks to how exhausted she was, she was soon fast asleep as well.
Though she had assumed that things would finally be better come morning, her appetite remained poor, and she was still experiencing rather terrible nausea…
Her words made Zivon look at his ailing wife. Though he was still a little doubtful, maybe Dolly could really help… That aside, he already had a bodyguard in mind for her… Basically, ‘Jennie’. After all, now that Jenna had turned a new leaf and even knew a few martial arts, she was quite suitable for that role.
After being told about his idea, the excited Jenna was quick to say, “D-don’t worry, Young Master Burton! I’ll make sure that Xavia will make it home safe and sound!”
“You better,” muttered Zivon.
To be extra safe, however, he made sure to hire a few more bodyguards who would follow them around in secret. After all, he wasn’t about to risk another kidnapping case…
Once everything was done and the women had headed off, he stretched before getting started on his own project… A project that involved giving Zayne a call.
