Cameron was simmering with silent rage. "Benjamin, without me, you'd be nothing more than a backup plan for the Rowland family."

Benjamin shot back with a sneer, "Cameron, so that's what you really think of me? Fine, if you think so little of me, go find somewhere else to work. The Rowland family doesn't have space for someone who thinks they're a big deal like you."

The tension in the air was palpable as Cameron and Benjamin locked eyes, resentment brewing between them. The once strong bond of brotherhood between them was slowly crumbling away.

Eventually, Benjamin stormed off, leaving Cameron to collapse onto the floor, drained and defeated. Greta approached him hesitantly, guilt shadowing her every step. "Cameron, get up," she urged softly.

She attempted to help him to his feet, but Cameron abruptly slapped her hand away, his voice rising in anger, "Why are you meddling in men's matters? Even if Nathalie has her faults, it's not your place to speak up. Happy now? You've messed up my job, and now we're both left out in the cold."

Greta, holding her cheek with tears in her eyes, protested, "Cameron, I was just trying to stand up for you."

Cameron shot back, "Thanks for your so-called help. How many times have your clever ideas backfired?"

That night, a heavy silence hung between Cameron and Greta, worlds apart despite sitting in the same room.

The next day, Cameron returned to the Rowland Corporation. When he reached the vice president's office, it was completely empty—his documents gone.

Looking at the bare chair, Cameron let out a bitter laugh. "Benjamin, you're really doing this?"

A voice scoffed, "Who does Dawson think he is? He only got by by betraying Dawson International and riding on their coattails. What's he done on his own?"

"Now that he's drained the Dawson family's resources, he's useless. And there he goes, packing up and leaving."

Cameron's fists clenched tight. He never imagined his efforts at Rowland Corporation would end up being someone else's stepping stone.

A bitter pill to swallow, indeed.
