Two hours later, Ford and Dominick showed up at Nathan's front door, absolutely covered in mud from head to toe.

When Nathan, who was a bit of a neat freak, saw them, he took a step back, clearly grossed out. "What on earth happened to you two?"

Dominick, worried that Nathan's reaction might upset Nathalie, quickly chimed in, "Boss, Miss Nathalie is waiting in the car. She brought you loads of fresh goodies from the farm."

Nathan's demeanor changed instantly, and he shot Dominick a sharp look. "Why didn’t you mention that sooner?"

Dominick, looking a bit hurt, replied, "You started griping about how dirty I was the second you saw me."

Nathan glared at him, "Enough already... Just zip it."

Dominick clamped his mouth shut, clearly miffed.

Nathan made his way towards the parking lot in long strides. It was only about thirty feet away, but to Nathan, it felt like a marathon.

His nerves were through the roof. It had been two whole years since he last laid eyes on Nathalie. After his impulsive confession to her, he’d taken off on his overseas adventure. Now, seeing her again felt like a sequel to that bold confession.

He couldn't help but wonder if Nathalie would welcome his feelings or turn him away.

Nathan grinned, satisfied.

He squeezed her hand, "These past two years have been insanely busy. Plus, if I’d just waltzed back into the Capital, it would’ve drawn too much attention, and I wouldn’t have had any freedom. So, I had to restrain myself from reaching out. These two years felt like twenty to me. Nathalie, I truly missed you more than I can say."

Nathalie, with a knowing smile, called him out, "You had people keeping tabs on me all the time. You probably know my daily routine better than I do. Why pretend you were pining away?"

Nathan's ears turned a deep shade of red.

He looked sheepish, "Oh, so you figured it out."

Nathalie laughed, "Lizzy’s acting was terrible. You might want to hire someone else next time."
