After Dominick left, Nathan sat there, lost in his thoughts for what felt like ages. A little voice in his head nudged him, saying, "You've been with her for so long. Give her a proper goodbye."

With a heavy sigh, Nathan reached into his drawer and pulled out a photo album, flipping through pages filled with pictures of him and Nathalie. Each snapshot had them posing against a backdrop of lavender, that ever-present symbol of hopeless love. Just like their relationship, doomed from the beginning.

Meanwhile, out in the garden, Nathalie was busy with her crops. The harvest season had wrapped up, and the vines were starting to wilt. She needed to clear everything out to prep for the next round of planting. Suddenly, Miranda rolled over in her wheelchair. "Nathalie, let me give you a hand."

Nathalie raised an eyebrow, puzzled by Miranda's sudden eagerness. After mulling it over, she said, "It's a bit fishy when someone offers help out of the blue. What are you after this time?"

Miranda maneuvered her wheelchair into the narrow space between the vegetable beds, saying, "Do you always have to be so skeptical of your own mother? At my age, I don't have a lot of time left. My only wish is to patch things up between you and your sister. Once I'm gone, you'll need each other."

"Rely on her? Please," Nathalie scoffed. "I only need Nathan."

Miranda’s eyes clouded with sadness. She glanced around, then whispered, "He won't be with you for much longer."

Nathalie stiffened, her expression turning icy. "What are you implying? Are you cursing him? The comfort you have now is all thanks to him, and if you keep being ungrateful, I'll have to send you away."

Miranda replied cryptically, "Nathalie, you've been with Nathan for so long. Haven't you noticed anything... off about him?"

When Miranda finally returned to the cottage, Greta was sprawled out on a recliner, casually munching on a bowl of fruit. Without even looking up, Greta asked, "So, how did she react?"

Exhausted from wheeling herself back, Miranda felt a twinge of disappointment seeing Greta so leisurely. "They’re really in love. It’s not going to be easy to break them up with just words. She didn’t even entertain the idea you wanted her to."

Greta scoffed, "Foolish. She’ll regret her naivety."

Miranda pushed herself closer to Greta, panting slightly. "Greta, I'm thirsty. Could you get me a glass of water?"
