Ashley raised an eyebrow, "What are you getting at? I'm not following."

Nathalie smirked, "First, you act all lovey-dovey with Nathan, trying to tug at my heartstrings. Then you go and put me down, making me question myself. And finally, you tempt me with a boatload of cash. Isn't this whole setup just a ploy to make me give up and hand over my Stewart Enterprises shares to you?"

Ashley flushed with embarrassment, "You're just being paranoid."

Nathalie laughed lightly, "Even if I were to sell my shares, it wouldn't be to you. I'd sell them to Michael."

Ashley was left speechless, her jaw practically on the floor.

Michael was her biggest nightmare. Over the years, his sharp wit and clever maneuvers had helped him slowly snatch up shares from other stakeholders, and his holdings were nearly on par with the Stewart family.

Regan, knowing Michael might make a move on Nathalie first, had sent Ashley to try and sort things out.

Ashley couldn't fathom how Nathalie, who had never been involved with Stewart Enterprises, was aware that Michael was their biggest threat.

Nathalie watched the array of emotions flit across Ashley's face and said smugly, "Ashley, tell your granddad this: We should live in harmony and compete with fairness and integrity. If you resort to schemes and lose the family touch, don't blame me for siding with an outsider to take over."

Ashley, who had strutted in with confidence, left with her tail between her legs.

Back at the Stewart family estate.

"What? She threatened to sell her shares to Michael?" Regan was a mix of shock, fear, and anger after hearing his granddaughter's update.

He slumped into the couch, "I thought with Nathan out of the picture, a woman wouldn't be a threat. Who would've guessed she'd hit us where it hurts?"

Nathalie groaned dramatically, "A status report? He's setting me up to fail! How on earth am I supposed to throw together a decent report last minute?"

"That's your problem," Ashley replied, cold as ice, before hanging up.

Nathalie found herself in a whirlwind of anxiety.

One moment, she was fussing over her look, "Lizzy, today's makeup needs to scream confidence. And I'm going with a suit."

Lizzy chimed in eagerly, "You got it, sis."

The next, Nathalie was practicing her poise, pacing her room while trying to channel the grace of high society.
