Morris didn’t brush off her kindness.

After Nathalie had sorted out Morris’s issues, she reluctantly said goodbye, “Nathan, I’m heading out for a bit. I’ll be back soon. If you need anything, just ask Lizzy; she’ll help you out.”

Morris gave a slight nod, “Alright.”

Since he got to this house, he’d been pretty aloof.

It was like he expected everything people did for him or maybe he just didn’t care. He seemed like someone who was emotionally checked out.

Once Nathalie was gone, Lincoln sat brooding on the couch, giving Morris a hard stare.

He didn’t bother hiding his dislike for Morris: “Nathan, my daughter struggles with depression, so I try not to upset her and give her what she needs. But that doesn’t mean I’m happy you’re here.”

After a moment, he added, “You and my daughter are single. I don’t buy into the whole ‘just friends’ thing between men and women. Be honest, don’t you feel anything for her?”

Morris couldn’t find the words to answer Lincoln’s questioning.

Because his feelings for Nathalie were way more than just a little attraction.

She was all he could think about.

Seeing Morris’s silence, Lincoln scoffed, “I knew you weren’t straightforward. But let me warn you, my Vivian isn’t in the best health. Her future husband needs to treat her like gold. And you…”
