Sophia scoffed and thought, ‘Dating? Any man who dares get close to me, I’ll end him.

Bryan and his family followed the ambulance to the hospital, while Dorian turned to Sophia and asked, “Where to next, Sophia?”

Sophia pondered briefly and then said, “To the hospital.”

Sophia felt Bryan wasn’t looking right just now. Since he was leaving her his inheritance anyway, she figured she should at least go through the motions.

When Sophia and Dorian arrived at the hospital, they saw Bryan sitting alone with his head hanging low in silent despair.

Amy kept muttering about her lost love. Her mind was shattered by the shock. As for Bryan’s half–brother, wife, and son, none of them dared cross him

Sophia strode over and stood in front of Bryan. She fixed him with a piercing, icy stare and asked, “Do you regret it?”

Sophia thought, ‘No one could have predicted this outcome. If Bryan dares to say he regrets it and refuses to give me the inheritance, I’ll make sure he regrets ever being born.”

Bryan froze. His gaze shifted between Amy’s bloodstained hands, the emergency room doors, and the family of three huddled together.

He let out a bitter, self–deprecating laugh. “This was my choice. No regrets,” he said.

As he spoke those words, tears welled up in his laughing eyes.

He thought, ‘What’s there to regret? I swore I’d make them pay, and now they’re getting exactly what they deserve.‘

By now, Bryan’s heart was in tatters. No one in this world loved him. His father loved his mother so much that his father lost his mind, but his mother loved her lover more than anyone else.

Even his wife didn’t love him. She had been carrying on with his half–brother. The child wasn’t even his because he was infertile. He was doomed to never have a child of his own.

In the end, Bryan was left with nothing. The man in his forties crouched with his head in his hands and cried like a child abandoned by the world.

Even Dorian couldn’t help but feel a twinge of sympathy for him.

Sophia said impassively, “I’m sorry.”

Dorian just remained silent.

Bryan looked up at Sophia through his tears and said, “I’ve willed my entire estate to you. Couldn’t you at least say something comforting?”

Sophia raised an eyebrow and thought, ‘Alright. Since you’re leaving me your inheritance, I can humor you with some comfort.”

Sophia took a deep breath and said, “Think positively. Have a quick cry if you must, but don’t sit there looking like some abandoned puppy. Wallowing in self–pity doesn’t suit you.

“There are plenty of people who have it worse than you. At least you’re rich. Why not put all that money to good use?”

Bryan thought speechlessly, ‘Is that supposed to be comfort? Now I just feel worse.’

Sophia said, “It’s not your fault that your parents didn’t love you. They’re the blind ones, not you. Just think about how miserably those who didn’t love you ended up. Doesn’t that make you feel better?”

Bryan’s grief was abruptly cut short. Whether it was from having vented or because of Sophia’s words, he did feel somewhat better.

Bryan looked at her and said, “You really want my inheritance, don’t you?”

Sophia rolled her eyes. “Or what? You thought I was really nice?”

Sophia flashed him a smile. “I’ll be waiting for your good news. But why not just hand over the inheritance in advance?”

Bryan was speechless. He thought, ‘You’re really pushing it.”

Sophia put on a serious face and broke it down for him. “Look, you don’t have any kids of your own anyway, so sooner or later, all your money is going to end up with me.

“It’s bound to happen, so why not just hand it over earlier? In that way, you could retire early and enjoy a good life. Doesn’t it sound perfect?”

Sophia replied, “What else? You think I’m gonna stick around and play nurse for him until he kicks the bucket?”

Speaking of taking care of someone until the end, Dorian recalled what he had just overheard. He asked in hesitation, “Sophia, do you and Bryan…”

Dorian was bursting with questions but held back. He thought, ‘If Sophia doesn’t want to talk about it, I won’t ask again.‘

Sophia was blunt. She said, “It’s a deal between Bryan and me. I help him get revenge, and he lets me inherit his estate.”

Dorian was speechless. Even with all his experience, he had never known inheritance could work this way. He felt he had learned something new.

Just then, Sophia’s phone rang. It was another one of her inheritance clients calling.

“Larson.” Sophia grinned from ear to ear. “The will is all set. There’s no problem. But just to make sure you don’t go back on your word and secretly change it later, I’ll need to collect a little advance payment.”
