"Two years ago, at the negotiation meeting that was held at the Polly Hotel in Fruece, I had completely trampled all over Dash. In the end, he transferred the overseas project to Ford Corporation at a price 20 percent lower than the asking offer. So, why do you think Dash chose you and not me?"

Liesel leaned down close to Natalie. There was an obvious chill in her voice. "He didn't choose me because I'm too intelligent. He chose you because you are stupid enough."

Each word she uttered was dripping with ridicule.

"Liesel!" Natalie was so mad that she wanted to hit her.

Liesel nonchalantly poured herself a cup of water. In the same cool tone, she said, "Do you really want to fight me now? Are you going to use the hand that's in a plaster cast? If so, I can indulge you."

Natalie's eyes darkened. Even maneuvering the wheelchair made her hand hurt. How could she really go up against Liesel? She had no choice but to just gnash her teeth. "I'll prove to you that Dash didn't make a mistake in choosing me."

"He didn't make a mistake though, because he chose the only idiot in Ford Corporation!" Liesel mocked.

"I'll prove that Ford Corporation will profit greatly through his contract! Just you wait!" Natalie screamed.

Liesel crossed her arms and hummed. "I just hope that when the time comes, you won't be begging Jacob to not kick you out of Ford Corporation."

Every word was a jibe at Natalie.

Natalie's eyes reddened from anger. She gave Liesel a hateful glare before finally leaving.

As soon as Natalie was gone, Liesel's eyes fell on her phone. She returned to her desk and took a seat. She met the gaze of the man on a video call with her.

When Natalie barged in earlier, Jacob had called her to invite her to take part in an online international conference. Before the conference started, Natalie had rushed in and put on a "show."

As expected, all the bigshots of Ashthorne were there on campus. Even Denzel and Alex were there.

After a round of socializing, Liesel found a quiet balcony to get some rest. There were all types of flowers there. She couldn't recognize all of them, but she thought they were so pretty. Their fragrance also helped her slowly calm down.

She only managed to take a small sip of her milk when she heard the sound of familiar footsteps. When she turned around, she spotted Jacob. Smiling, she said, "You're here, Mr. Ford."

Jacob was holding a shallow glass that was half filled with an amber liquid. The faintly bittersweet smell of vanilla billowed to her. It must be some kind of whiskey with a high alcohol content.

Catching a whiff of alcohol in the air, Liesel merely raised an eyebrow.

Jacob slowly walked toward her. He mimicked her by staring out at the night sky but didn't say a word.
