There was still a short distance to walk before they reached the place where their car was parked, 

Lydia linked arms with Stella. “Aunt Stella, the woman at Taylor Vogue today, the one who looked so stunning, turns out she’s Mr. Chivers‘ wife? I think she has such a fiery temper, but she’s very carefree and kind of contradictory. Don’t you think?” 

Stella nodded. “She’s definitely eye–catching. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen someone like her. I actually envy her personality. She lives her life exactly how she wants, saying whatever she feels, doing whatever she wants, not caring what anyone thinks.” 

As Stella spoke, she pressed her lips together. 

Lydia glanced at Stella and, gathering some courage, asked, “Aunt Stella, do you have something on your mind? Or is there someone you like?” 

At the mention of this, a slight blush appeared on Stella’s face. She looked a little shy and then glanced at Lydia. “What do you know? Why are you asking these kinds of things?” 

Lydia didn’t answer her, but instead, she watched as Stella gazed longingly toward the east, her expression filled with a sense of wistful loneliness, as though there was something she wanted but could never have. 

Lydia wondered whether there was someone in Stella’s heart, someone she had kept there for all these years.

The next day, before heading out, Cherise gave Morris a look of mock disdain, pouting. “I almost didn’t get up today. Another morning without any exercise. I can already see it. My waistline is going to be a few inches wider in the near future.” 

She sighed softly. 

Except for Morris, no one else had ever seen the cute side of Cherise that she showed in private. 

Morris looked at her pouting and smiled indulgently. This was the normal behavior of a couple. 

He couldn’t resist reaching out to stroke her cheek. “Baby, I’m sorry. I couldn’t control myself. I promise I won’t do it again tonight, okay? 

“And by the way, you’re not gaining weight at all. It doesn’t matter if you did. You’re always beautiful, no matter what time of day.” 

Cherise pretended to ignore him. “I don’t really believe you.” 

At least when it came to matters of lovemaking, Cherise completely couldn’t trust him. 

She didn’t know if other people’s husbands or boyfriends lost control the way Morris did. 

Morris was aware he was in the wrong but not fully understanding what had happened.

Morris, worried Cherise might still be dwelling on the issue, quickly leaned in and kissed, then changed the subject. “Next time, I’ll control myself. By the way, do you want some beef stew? I’ll pick you up at Betrico University for 

lunch.” 

Cherise knew Morris was deliberately changing the subject, but she laughed and then nodded eagerly. “Sure, lunch sounds good. In the afternoon, I promised a new student I’d visit the orphanage where he lives.” 

A flicker of confusion passed through Morris‘ eyes. 

However, since he had finally managed to calm Cherise down, he didn’t press for more details, instead quickly saying, “Okay, I’ll see you at lunch.” 

After they parted ways, Morris was in his car. 

He turned to Steven, who was sitting in the passenger seat. “Have Hugh keep a close eye on Cherise’s situation, especially that new guy, Hank. 

“And get Hank’s name over to the Dark Web Division. See if they can pull up the most detailed profile on him.” 

“Understood,” Steven nodded in response. 

At noon, after Morris picked Cherise up from Betrico University for a lunch of beef stew at Marie’s, he drove her back to the university. 

As he dropped her off at the base of the teaching building, they ran into Hank, who was riding his bicycle back from outside. 

As Hank passed by Morris and Cherise, he completely ignored Morris and instead stopped excitedly to greet Cherise. “Ms. Leach, good afternoon! Have you had lunch yet? 

“This morning Maeve made some pies for me to take. She baked them herself, and they’re really good, with flavors you can’t get anywhere else. Want one?” 

Hank began reaching into his bag to pull out the pies.
