Seeing the situation, Cherise took two quick steps back, acting as though it had nothing to do with her. 

Morris, however, furrowed his brows in displeasure. 

Indeed, he was somewhat irritated. Setting aside the fact that he was being ignored, what really bothered him was how Hank had suddenly stepped between him and Cherise. It made him feel uneasy.

His voice was stern, with a hint of disdain and mild reprimand. Hank froze for a moment, standing awkwardly and looking guilty. 

Cherise, noticing Morris‘ expression, didn’t approach. Her first impression of Hank had been ambiguous, and she wanted to see how Hank would handle the situation next.

Nearby, Leo, who was talking to Hugh under a tree, overheard Hank and couldn’t help but mutter, “Ugh… do all the young guys these days know how to put on such a show?” 

Morris didn’t say anything, his hand gripping the car door handle as he pointed at Hank. “This is the last time. And don’t interrupt when I’m talking to Cherise.” 

He quickly opened the car door, waved at Cherise, and then got in. 

Cherise, standing at the back, couldn’t help but chuckle lightly and waved her hand toward Morris. 

As the car pulled away, Hank turned to Cherise. “Ms. Leach, do you think Mr. Chivers is really upset?” 

Cherise shrugged. “Maybe.” 

Hank looked suddenly anxious. “Oh no… what should I do?” 

Cherise turned toward the building and said as she walked, “He just doesn’t like people standing too close to him. And next time, don’t ignore him.” 

She said this as she walked further away. 

Hank, watching Cherise go, turned to Hugh, who was still standing nearby, and said, “But I really didn’t mean to ignore Mr. Chivers.” 

Later that afternoon, after two traditional medicine practical classes, as arranged with Hank the day before, a few of them waited in the parking lot, ready to head to the orphanage where Hank had lived for years. 

While Cherise was in class, Hugh had prepared a lot of things and swapped for a business car. 

The items included gifts Cherise had organized, new clothes, fruits, toys, books, milk, and other daily necessities.

As Hank’s voice echoed, there was a loud noise from inside the building. 

Then, with a creak, the door opened, and a weathered middle–aged woman stepped out with five scrawny children of varying sizes. 

Cherise didn’t need to guess who the woman leading the group was. It was Maeve, the head of the orphanage. 

Maeve quickly approached them. “Hello, Ms. Leach. You’re finally here. And you brought so many friends with you. Welcome! We were just inside getting ready and didn’t hear the car arrive. Sorry about that.” 

Cherise nodded toward Maeve and extended her hand. “Maeve, hi, I’m Cherise. Sorry for the disturbance. We brought some gifts, I hope the children like them.”
