People greeted her respectfully, offering coffee and their best snacks. 

Hugh, watching this spectacle, rolled his eyes. “I’ve never seen you lot this excited when Mr. Chivers shows up.”

The Dark Web Division’s dungeon was where they held their prisoners. 

True to its name, it was a lightless place. Not a single window or ray of sunlight penetrated its depths. 

The space relied on artificial lighting year–round to illuminate its interior. 

Prisoners were detained here under strict conditions, and Lydia was no exception. Morris had specifically ordered that she be treated like any other prisoner. 

When Cherise entered, Lydia was sitting silently on a wooden bed. Hearing the door open, she raised her head, her face devoid of emotion. 

Cherise approached her slowly, stopping about three feet away. She looked Lydia in the eye and said calmly, “So, you’re not pretending anymore? This is the real you, isn’t it?” 

Lydia let out a soft chuckle. “No more pretending. In front of you, any pretense would only put me at a disadvantage.” Cherise pulled up a small stool nearby and sat down. “Your aunt and your grandmother don’t hold a candle to you.” 

“That’s not entirely true,” Lydia replied bluntly. 

Cherise smirked. She had to admit that the women of the Walton family were all remarkably shrewd. 

Pausing for a moment, she asked, “So, your crush on Truman was all an act?”

The mention of ‘Truman caused a flicker in Lydia’s eyes, which Cherise noted immediately. She watched her closely, curious about her response. 

What Cherise didn’t expect was Lydia’s straightforward reply. “No, my feelings for Truman are real. I know he and Jean aren’t actually a couple.” 

Cherise neither nodded nor shook her head. She wasn’t surprise. Lydia’s gaze toward Truman had always been different. 

Understanding Lydia’s sincerity, Cherise began to piece things together. “So, your ultimate goal isn’t Truman or Jean. They’re just pawns in your larger plan.” 

Lydia fell silent at this, simply staring at Chérise as if under a magnifying glass. 

Her lack of response confirmed Cherise’s suspicions. With a faint smile, Cherise stood up and left without looking back. 

As the heavy door of the dungeon clanged shut, Lydia finally raised her head, her gaze fixed on the tightly sealed door. She pursed her lips but said nothing. 

When Cherise exited the dungeon, Morris was waiting for her outside. Seeing her emerge, he took a few steps forward. 

“So, she’s not as simple as she seems, is she?” he asked. 

Cherise nodded. “No, not at all. In fact, the women of the Walton family only get more complicated.” 

Morris put an arm around her shoulders as they walked out together. “The Walton family has more than just these three women.”

The following day, after completing a meeting with foreign guests, Stella rushed after Arthur, who was about to leave. The guards accompanying Arthur noticed her approach and quickly blocked her path. 

“Stop. You can’t go any further. Please leave,” one of the guards said firmly. 

Growing anxious, Stella called out, “Arthur, it’s Stella from the Walton family! I need to speak with you. Please, just give me a moment. It won’t take long!” 

Hearing her voice, Arthur paused and turned around. “Let her through.” 

Stella felt a wave of relief as the guards stepped aside, allowing her to approach. She hurried over, trying to compose herself. Arthur regarded her calmly. “You’re Ms. Walton, correct?” 

Stella hesitated for a moment, surprised he didn’t seem to remember her from their last encounter. “Yes,” she said. “Tristan is my brother, and Lydia is my niece.” 

Arthur raised an eyebrow, seemingly intrigued. “I see. And why are you here?”
