Chapter 627

In the room, Claire glanced out at the sea and sighed softly.

“Ugh, this island looks so hidden and isolated. I need to figure out a way to escape when they deliver food tomorrow. I just came back to life. There’s no way fate would be this cruel to me, right?”

She muttered to herself, looking up at the pitch–black sky.

The next second, a loud thunderclap startled Claire, making her jump and dive back under the covers. “Yikes, God bless me!” she muttered, feeling a bit annoyed.

The thunder in the middle of the sea was much scarier than on land.

The loud clap also startled Stella, who was slowly approaching Claire’s room from outside.

After returning to her room, Stella couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong.

She felt uneasy, knowing that as long as Claire was around, she would never have peace. She believed that as long as Claire was still in this world, she would never have a chance to rise.

Stella held a sharp knife in her hand, barefoot, with her signature mid–length curly hair, walking determinedly towards her target.

Soon, she reached the door of the room where Claire was locked.

The entire hallway was empty, eerily quiet, with no lights on, only occasional flashes of lightning, making the atmosphere even scarier.

Stella stared at the closed door for a few seconds before taking out a key from her pocket and inserting it into the lock.

The “click” was barely audible.

But it was enough to make Claire, who was almost asleep, open her eyes wide and sit up.

She quickly covered a pillow with the blanket and silently hid at the edge of the bed.

Stella entered the room and saw the lump on the bed, thinking it was Claire. Even in the dark, one could see the anger in her eyes.

With a sinister smile, she quietly approached the lump.

Standing by the bed, she gripped the knife tightly, her hands trembling slightly.

This was the first time she had ever thought about killing someone.

Her hands, which had been raised high, lowered slightly.

Two voices echoed in her mind, “Do it, don’t do it, do it. If you do it, you’ll remove the obstacle to your future,” Finally, the evil voice won, and she raised the knife again.

“Three, two, one!” As the countdown ended, Stella stabbed down hard, again and again.

She was so scared that she screamed with each stab.

Hiding in the corner, Claire covered her ears, thinking, ‘Is this woman crazy? Screaming like that, does she want everyone to know she’s killing someone? Good thing this is her territory. Otherwise, she’d be arrested!

Realizing something, Claire crawled silently towards the door while Stella was still venting her emotions.

Stella felt a relief thinking she had killed Claire. She glanced at the knife casually.

Just then, she noticed there was no blood on the knife.

She quickly stood up and threw back the blanket.

She screamed, “Help! Someone help! Claire escaped! Catch her, quickly!”

She ran out of the room, not wanting all her efforts to be in vain.

Her screams woke up almost all the guards on the island.

Hearing “Mr. Jarrett,” Claire felt like fireworks exploded in her mind.

“Boom!”

Her heart raced.

Then she quickened her pace.

Seeing fewer people around, Claire said, “I knew it! You seemed familiar on the helicopter. So you work for Arthur.

“He’s quite capable. That’s why he’s in that position. By the way, what’s your name? I need to thank you properly when we get back to Betrico.”

The man, observing the surroundings, said, “I’m Ryan Quinn.”

“Ryan Quinn, huh? Your brother is Mateo, right?”

“Yes, he’s my brother.”

“Really? He looks more like your… dad, I mean, older brother!”

They hid behind a large bush, watching the guards gather on the lawn.

It looked like they had to choose another way to leave.

Ryan pointed to a small path. “This way. Yes, I age well, and my brother Mateo looks older than he is.

“Ms. Leach, follow me. We need to move quickly. The path ahead might be tough, but it gets better.”

“Got it!” Claire followed Ryan’s lead.”
