Chapter 628

Stella’s face twisted with ferocity and rage as she led the guards to the open lawn in front of the villa. They were searching frantically, their expressions grim.

Stella knew the security here was top–notch, the highest level in the Walton family’s secret bases. There was no way Claire could slip away

It was impossible and unacceptable. If Claire managed to escape and find Arthur, Stella couldn’t bear to think about the

consequences.

“Listen up, everyone! Search every single corner of this island, especially the shorelines. We can’t let her escape. Move it! If you can’t find her, I’ll hold each and every one of you accountable. None of you will get off easy!”

Stella’s voice boomed, and the response was a chorus of “Yes, ma’am!” that almost drowned out the thunder.

The island was swarming with bodyguards, just as Lydia had said.

They began a thorough, sweeping search, combing through every inch of the island.

Meanwhile, Ryan was leading Claire’through the overgrown path, using a small knife to clear the way. The dense underbrush was a hazard; one wrong step could lead to a painful injury.

But both of them were experienced with outdoor navigation and made quick progress. Soon, they reached the end of the narrow trail.

Suddenly, they heard faint rustling at the end of the path.

Ryan and Claire’s alertness kicked in. They stared ahead, holding their breath, trying not to make a sound.

But then Claire spotted something–or someone–and her voice trembled with excitement and relief. “Hank, Mommy’s here! It’s Hank, right? And Leo, I see you guys.”

The four people at the end of the path were just as surprised and relieved. They whispered back, “Claire, is that you? What a coincidence! We haven’t even started searching yet, and here you are.”

Seeing familiar faces, Claire and Ryan emerged from the bushes.

Both sides were visibly moved.

Crow spoke up first, “Claire, Boss was really worried about you. She wanted to come herself, but we all thought it was too risky. We debated, and Lydia here led us over. We hadn’t even started looking when we ran into you.

“This saves us a lot of trouble. I need to call Boss and let her know.”

“I knew you guys would come for me. Thank you, and thank you, Lydia. It’s a good thing Cherise didn’t come; I would have given her a hard time. Oh, and this is Ryan. He’s from Arthur’s side, stationed here.”

After a quick nod of acknowledgment, Ryan said, “Let’s move. We can talk once we’re off this island.”

“Agreed!” Everyone quickened their pace, eager to leave the danger behind.

When they were about 300 meters away from where their speedboat was docked, Leo spoke up, “The speedboat is just ahead. Let’s stay low and move quickly before the guards notice us.”

“Let’s go!”

However, things rarely go as planned. As soon as they finished speaking, a horde of bodyguards swarmed towards them.

The guarde tightly surround them with weapons.

Escaping now seemed far from easy

Following the bodyguards was none other than Stella, who had just attempted to murder Claire.

“Great, we’re still being chased”

But within seconds, a large group of men in black suddenly appeared, rushing into the fray.

At first, Stella thought they were Tristan’s men.

But when she saw them capturing her own subordinates one by one, she realized something was wrong.

“Who are you people? Do you know whose territory this is?” she shouted in disbelief and fear.

Neither Claire, Crow, nor the others knew who these newcomers were, until a small, agile helicopter appeared and landed smoothly on the lawn.

As the door opened and the person who stepped out was revealed, almost everyone gasped.

It was Arthur, the very person who was supposed to be nowhere near here.

Seeing him, Stella’s eyes almost popped out of her head. “No, it can’the Aether wonthes’s penadly be here for Claire She kept shaking her head and backing away

Arthur’s gaze had been fixed on Claire from the moment he stepped out of the helicopter. He strode purposefully towards her

As he approached, Ryan and Crow, along with the others, stepped mide, giving them space

Claire was equally stunned “Um. Arthur, you’re quite the surprise, aren’t you?

Arthur simply nodded. “Yes, I came to get you. Are you okay? Did she hurt you?”

Claire glanced at Stella, who was standing a short distance away, and after a moment of thought, her expression changed dramatically, “Yes, she did. She yanked my hair–like this. My new hairstyle from just the other day is almost ruined Look

“And when I was asleep, she tried to kill me. She had a knife and was stabbing like there was no tomorrow. I’m a delicae woman with no strength to fight back. I almost died of fright
