Shane eyed Mayra from head to toe. She was usually listless, but her mood seemed to have improved after going out. Her hands and head were adorned with things girls typically liked. 

Mayra watched the car disappear down the street, then got into Shane’s car and returned to the hotel. 

By the time she arrived, Anderson still hadn’t returned. 

Mayra decided not to meddle in his affairs with Hailey.

The car Shane was in stopped by the riverside. 

Hailey’s injury had yet to heal. Her skirt was lifted, and one leg was draped over the steering wheel. ” 

“Hailey, how could I not know that you had so many tricks up your sleeve?” 

Hailey’s almond–shaped eyes looked weary and sorrowful as she looked at him. “Andy, I don’t know why Mrs. Barlow’s bangle was at the auction today. really don’t! Andy, you must believe me!”

Anderson yanked off his tie to bind her hands and then lifted her. Enduring the pain and humiliation, Hailey closed her eyes tightly. She pleaded, “Andy, don’t do this! I’m begging you! If the Fishers and Madam Sonia find out, they won’t let me off.” 

Ignoring her pleas, Anderson leaned in, but his mind was suddenly interrupted by the clear voice of a girl.

The weight on top of Hailey vanished. Forgetting about her shoes left in the car, she fled in a panic. 

Mayra lay on the hotel bed, propping up her chin and swinging her legs. She had a book open but couldn’t focus on it. Thinking about her confession to Gordon, Mayra couldn’t help smiling. 

Just as she was thinking of him, her phone vibrated. She immediately picked up her phone, already knowing that it was a text message from him. 

“Are you home?” 

“I just got home. When are you coming back?” Mayra sent a heart emoji to go along with the message. 

Gordon replied, “In two weeks. You’ve already missed two days of classes. 

Make sure to catch up. I might be quite busy later. Give me a call if understand anything.”
