“I’ll get into the University of Belchester to prove to you that I know what I’m doing.” 

Mayra was resolute about leaving Anderson and escaping his control. This way, her relationship with Gordon would be much easier. 

But she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Anderson had raised her for the past 16 years. She grew up by his side. He had nurtured her. 

“All because of Gordon? What’s so great about him that would make you talk 

back to me?” 

Anderson exuded a chilling air, enveloping her in it. 

“He’s not like you. You have Isa, but you still get entangled with other women. I know what kind of person Gordon is. He won’t be like you, who’s so unsure of his feelings.” 

Mayra pointed at the striking lipstick stain on Anderson’s neck. “This mark was left behind by Hailey, right? I’m the one who noticed it today, and it doesn’t matter to me. But Andy, have you ever thought about how hurt Isa would be if she saw it?” 

It turned out that she understood everything! 

However, the words “doesn’t matter to me” caused Anderson to lose control. 

“Enough!” Anderson roared, frightening Mayra. She shrank back, too frightened to speak. 

Shane, who was waiting by the door, heard the commotion inside. 

They were arguing over Gordon. Since when did Mr. Barlow get angry over someone like Gordon? 

Anderson walked up to Mayra while fixing his cold gaze on her. “I can’t control you. From now on, I won’t interfere in your matters. Whether or not you want to return to the Barlow mansion is up to you.” 

After a pause, he added, “Consider the last 16 years I spent raising you a waste.

Mayra watched Anderson leave, regretting the words she said. 

“Andy, that’s not what I meant.” 

But Anderson left without looking back. 

Mayra chased after him. At the door, Shane stopped her. “Ms. Sadler, what you said was indeed a bit too much.” 

“I didn’t mean it. I was just angry. Andy always uses Gordon to threaten me.” 

Feeling frustrated, she explained, “Gordon has had a very tough life. He almost had to drop out of school several times to pay for his mother’s medical bills. Andy has never had to worry about money, but Gordon isn’t that fortunate. Without money, his mother will die.” 

Shane frowned. “Even so, you shouldn’t speak for others. Mr. Barlow arranged for medical assistance for the Thorp family a long time ago. They don’t have to bear any cost for Mrs. Thorp’s kidney transplant.”
