Edric watched Nathan leave with rage in his eyes. He muttered with frustration, "Nathan White, if it wasn't for the fact that you've taken care of Irene and Eden, I would have beaten you up!"
"Mr. Myers, I am so flustered to hear that!" Irene sneered. Edric turned his head and saw Irene. His face blushed instantly and he faked an awkward chuckle, asking, "Irene, is Eden asleep?"
"If not?" Irene glared at him and warned, "Edric, you can never change what's between Nathan and me I. You'd better don't expect things to turn out as you wish!"
Edric's face turned ashen again. Irene ignored him and went straight into the kitchen. She had to make some light meals for Eden so he could have it when he woke up.
Edric stood in the living room for a moment and then followed her into the kitchen. "Irene, do you need my help?" he asked.
"No!" Irene refused.
"Let me cut the meat. I have excellent knife skills," Edric said when he saw Irene was about to slice the meat. He reached out to take the knife.
"Mr. Myers, you're such a kind person!" Irene remarked with sarcasm. Why hadn't he made her any food in the past?
Edric ignored the mockery in her tone. He took the knife and started to chop the meat. Irene watched for a moment and saw he wasn't skilled at all. She pushed him away and stated, "Get out of the kitchen. Stop getting in my way!"
Edric was taken by surprise and accidentally slit his finger. Blood gushed out from the wound in an instant. Irene ignored the incident and said, "There's a band-aid in the living room. Go and bandage it yourself!"
Edric remained rooted to the ground, looking dejected. The blood on his finger dripped onto the floor but he just stared at Irene. Irene didn't even give him a glance and continued to focus on preparing ingredients. She had decided that she wouldn't show any kindness to him anymore. Since Edric had a strong ego, she didn't believe he could stand being disregarded.
A servant heard the noise and came over. When she saw Edric standing in the kitchen with his finger bleeding, she screamed, "Ah, you're bleeding. Hurry up and bandage it!"
With that, she quickly went to get medicine and gauze. Irene continued to ignore Edric and proceeded with her own business. The servant came back with a first aid kit to attend to Edric's wound. Edric fixed his gaze on Irene. He always thought that she was the most soft-hearted person in the world. He just found out that she could be crueler than anyone if she wanted to.
However, he had brought all these on to himself. He owed her too much. He would never give up Irene no matter what happened next. As long as he persevered, he would win!
After Edric's wound was bandaged, he returned to the entrance of the kitchen. This time, he did not come in. Instead, he stood at the entrance and gawked at Irene. His intense gaze terrified Irene a little. When did Edric become like this?
Suddenly, Edric's phone rang. He answered the phone and heard John reporting, "Mr. Myers, Lily hasn't done anything unusual, except for visiting the hospital more frequently these days!"
"Did you find out what she was doing in the hospital?" Edric asked.
"I've investigated it. She went to have some gynecological tests," John answered.
"Gynecological tests?" Edric was stunned for a moment and responded, "Keep an eye on her and let me know if you find any important information!"
John obeyed and stated, "Rowane will be heading to Mencodia soon. Her flight is tomorrow."
"Got it!" Edric answered.
In San Fetillo.
After packing up her luggage, Rowane looked at Marie, who came to see her off. She couldn't bear to part with Marie. She didn't know when she would be back from abroad this time. "Mom, I don't want to leave you!"
"Dear girl, I can't bear to part with you too!" Marie replied, sadness and reluctance glistening in her eyes. Rowane was a pain in the a*s; and, Marie knew she shouldn't be soft-hearted to this ticking bomb. She had to finish this play. "I will come and visit you some time. Even if I don't have time to do so, we can always chat and video call. The technology is so advanced nowadays," Marie comforted Rowane.
Rowane held back her tears. They departed to the airport together. Marie drove the car. Along the way, she kept reminding Rowane of the things she should pay attention to when she was abroad. She looked exactly like an amiable mother. When they arrived at the airport, Marie accompanied Rowane to complete the boarding procedure and sent her to the departure lounge reluctantly.
Watching Rowane walk off, the reluctance on her face disappeared slowly. She headed out of the airport quickly. After getting into the car, she took out the phone and made a call, "She's coming soon. Get ready! Remember to leave no trace behind!"
The plane arrived in Mencodia after more than ten hours. When Rowane marched out of the airport, a man looked at the photo in his hand and greeted her, "Are you Miss Wood?"
"You are?" Rowane was confused.
That was terrible! Before he could finish, Rowane turned on her heel and sprinted away. Dickson chased after her. Her fear took the better of her legs; and hence, she was soon caught by Dickson. "You ungrateful woman!" He slapped Rowane across the face.
Grimacing in pain, she struggled desperately and cried for help. Dickson reached out to cover her mouth and dragged her upstairs. She knew that she was in danger and decided to go all out. She reached out her hand to scratch his face and kicked him directly at his crotch.
Dickson groaned in pain and let her go. Rowane seized the opportunity and rushed out of the villa. Out the gate she ran when she saw a car drive into the villa.
Rowane continued to run wildly on the street. The streets at night were so chill and she couldn't see anyone in sight. She was extremely terrified and despondent. All she wanted now was just to get out of this demon cave as soon as possible.
Upon reaching the villa, Dunn stopped the car and raced in but only to see Dickson lying on the ground whimpering. Dunn's heart sank. "Where is she?"
"She just ran away! Dunn, chase after her!" Dickson yelled.
Dunn turned around and left before Dickson could even finish his line. He started the car and trailed after Rowane. There were only a few neighbors near their residence, making it look all the more deserted at night. Rowane screamed for help while continuing to move like lightning. However, she didn't see anyone in sight.
Rowane kept running. Dunn drove around the area and did not find anyone. Reckoning that it was impossible for Rowane to run far, he turned around straight away and sped in the opposite direction. Soon, he found Rowane.
Rowane was scampering on the street aimlessly. Suddenly, a beam of bright light shined on her. She turned back quickly in shock. Not far away from her, there was a car advancing towards her. Through the dazzling light, she could make out the driver clearly. It was a man with a grim smile and a scar on his face.
The sudden appearance of the car caused Rowane's brain to freeze. She did not dodge, for she did not have time to react. She just watched the car drive towards her. The next thing she knew was her body was thrown up into the sky before it fell heavily on the ground. The intense pain made her lose consciousness very soon before she fell into oblivion.
Dunn got out of the car and checked if Rowane was still breathing. He couldn't feet a hint of breath at her nostrils; thus, he quickly took out his phone and snapped a photo of her on the ground. Then, he got in the car and left.
A few minutes later, Marie received a text message. When she saw the bloody body on the screen, she deleted the photo immediately. Her heart was pounding rapidly in her chest, her blood quickened with shock. She put her palms together and prayed silently, "I have no choice either. Please rest in peace!"
After a while, most of her fear and uneasiness had already vanished. She turned on the computer and transferred a huge sum of money to an account. All her troubles had been wiped off the face of the Earth without anyone noticing it.
