"What's this?" Irene did not take it.
"This is the key to the bank's safe. There's some jewelry and gold bars inside. I'm handing them over to you today," Steven replied.
"Why are you giving this to me?" Irene thought that Steven was just here to denounce her, but surprisingly he was gifting her assets. However, why was he giving the key to her right now? He had been here a few times before, so why not then?
"Irene, I have something to ask of you," Steven didn't dare to look at Irene.
"About Lily?" Irene sneered. She should have known Steven could not be so kind.
"You know about Lily's condition. There's something wrong with her body. If she gets rid of the baby, she won't be able to have a child ever again, so I've come to you to ask you..."
"Mr. Cook, don't you think you're looking for the wrong person?" Irene interrupted him. "Lily is pregnant with Edric's child. You should go look for Edric and Margaret instead."
"Edric is very angry and determined to kill this child...This whole incident isn't Lily's fault. She's innocent. I don't want to see her live the rest of her life alone."
"Even more the reason for you to seek Edric, no?"
"Irene, Edric will listen to you. If you persuade him, he will listen to you," Steven saw that Irene did not buy that at all and had to spit out frankly, "You and Lily are sisters after all. Just help her out this one time."
"Mr. Cook, how many times have I told you that my mother gave birth to only me? I have nothing to do with your disgusting affair. It's your business if you want to help your illegitimate daughter. Please don't bother me anymore!"
Irene got up. Steven was being too despicable. He knew that she hated Lily, but yet he was asking her to help Lily. It chilled her to the bone.
"Irene!"
"I used to sympathize with you, but now looking at you, I can see that my feelings were in vain. Mr. Cook, I don't want to have anything to do with you. I don't need your so-called assets. You'd better leave them to your illegitimate daughter!"
Steven just looked at Irene's resolute figure and sighed. Was he wrong? They were both his daughters, so what else was he supposed to do?
Edric ordered John to investigate the sperm bank in San Fetillo Hospital. Sure enough, he found traces of Marie there. On the day the nurse ran into her, Marie did go to the hospital to take the sperm. However, it was sperm that Marie herself had stored, and it had not been recorded in the hospital's records.
The staff at the sperm bank told John that the sperm was stored here four years ago by Marie. When John reported this news to Edric, they both thought of the same thing. Could it be that this was the sperm that Edric had given Margaret four years ago? Marie didn't use it all back then so she had chosen to store it and use it on Lily?
If this was the case, then there was about to be an exciting show.
Edric felt that he should be more humane and remind Lily of her place. So, he called her, but Lily did not dare to answer for a long time. After some consideration, she picked up and Edric's cold voice sounded out.
"Miss Cook, I advise you to go to the hospital to get rid of the baby in your belly, so that you won't be in trouble."
Lily was unwilling to listen, "Edric, I had no choice. If I lose the child, I will never have a baby again. I beg you, let me give birth to the child. I promise I won't disturb you and Irene!"
"Miss Cook, I am asking you to undergo the procedure for your own good. You don't have to listen to me, but you'll have to bear the consequences on your own when the time comes."
Edric didn't want to say any more words to Lily. That woman was too disgusting. If she insisted on giving birth, that was up to her.
Edric went to see Irene again and told her everything he had found out. Irene was extremely surprised by his revelation.
If that was the case, that would meant that Lily would give birth to another man's child. With all the effort she had put into her scheming, she would go crazy if she found out that she was pregnant with another man's child.
However, Irene did not feel sorry for her at all. Lily's plan was backfiring on herself.
Edric proposed to get married again, "Irene, let's go register our marriage and give Eden and the child in your stomach a complete family."
Irene shook her head, "This is not the right time to talk about this. Eden is about to wake up from his afternoon nap. You should go!"
Edric sighed softly. Irene was still rejecting him. He also knew that this was not the time to force her. He had to go settle the matter that had come between them for so long.
He would never let those people go. They had tried to create misunderstandings between him and Irene to ruin their happiness! He would not let a single one of them off the hook!
Marie's heart ached upon seeing Lily badly beaten up. She regarded Lily as her own daughter. She had no idea that Deborah had already seen through her ploy and was outwitting her. She did not know that Lily was not her daughter, but instead her daughter was Rowane, who she had hired people to kill.
Marie was a malicious person. For her own interests, she would not hesitate to kill Myra, let alone Irene. After all, Irene had beaten Lily up. Marie left the hospital with her teeth clenched. She swore that she would take revenge on Irene.
Walking out of the Myers family home, Marie didn't feel the least bit soothed. On the contrary, she was even more upset. Things were no longer under her control now. She had to find a way to stop Irene from staying in San Fetillo if she wanted to secure Lily's future.
She had no way to control Irene. Fortunately, Irene still had Thomas by her side. Marie decided to go and find Thomas. She would persuade and threaten him again. Then, Thomas would eventually think of a way to get Irene to leave San Fetillo.
After Marie left, Edric came back. His and Marie's car passed each other. Marie was an accomplice to Lily's pregnancy. Seeing Marie coming out from his house again, Edric felt extremely disgusted.
Marie definitely did not go to his house with any good intentions. Margaret's leg had not recovered so she had been resting at home. Due to this, she was not very updated with what was going on. It seemed like Marie had gone to tell her about Lily's injury. Why was Marie helping Lily so much? What was Lily giving back to her in return?
His car pulled up to the front of the house and he strode in. Margaret heard the sound of the door opening and turned towards him, "You're back?"
Edric walked over and asked bluntly, "Why was Marie here?"
"She was worried about my health, so she came to visit me and have a chat..."
"Worried about your health? Why is she being so kind?" Edric sneered, "It seems to me like she had other motives."
"She's my best friend, isn't it normal for her to care about me?"
"Don't hide it anymore. Marie must have told you that Lily was beaten up, right?" Edric smiled mockingly, "Apart from gossiping about nonsense, what evil scheme is she up to now?"
"What are you on about? Isn't she speaking the truth? It's true that Irene beat Lily up isn't it?" Margaret's temper was rising.
"Yes it is, but she brought it upon herself!" Edric sneered, "She was so shameless that she had the nerve to plot a pregnancy. How dare she provoke Irene? She deserves it!"
"Edric, Lily is pregnant with your twins. You've got to be less biased. Fortunately, Lily was sent to the hospital in time, otherwise, my two grandsons..." Margaret dared not imagine what might have happened.
"It's for the best if she had faced a miscarriage. A vicious woman like her doesn't deserve to be a mother," Edric had never attacked anyone like that before. His hatred for Lily had reached its peak.
"How can you be so ruthless?" Margaret's temper rose even more, "Just because you like Irene, you're blinded from her viciousness. All you see is how good she is. She won't even let her own sister go. How much more vile can one be? My grandsons will not be raised by her, for she will ruin them."
