Chapter 135
Sariah originally wanted to go to a bar, but Johanna gradually lost interest in the idea and insisted on going to “Big Player” instead.
Big Player was just an arcade. The arcade was filled mostly with students, and all kinds of games were extremely popular.
It was a place Johanna had invested in just for fun, but unexpectedly, the business turned out to be a huge success.
Valerie had always been busy working or studying and had never been to such a place before. She found it rather novel.
“Hey, Johanna.” A boy in a high school uniform came over. He looked very fresh–faced, had his jacket tied around his waist, and gave off a youthful vibe. “You’re here! Perfect timing. Come play with us, yeah?”
Besides the arcade machines, the venue also had private rooms for guests to go online and play multiplayer games.
Johanna was an internet addict, and her fingers were already itching. But after glancing at the teenager, she immediately smacked him on the head. “You little brat. Did you finish your homework yet?”
The boy rubbed his head in embarrassment. “Almost done! It’s nothing really. I’m a top student, you know that.”
“Yeah, right, always bragging.” Johanna didn’t buy it, but still went over to start up a computer. “Come on. Valerie, you know how to play?”
Valerie hadn’t played in a long time, but listening to them made her want to join in. “A little.”
“Then come with us,” the high schooler said cheerfully. His eyes sparkled when he looked at Valerie. “This pretty lady is gorgeous. Who is she?”
“Don’t bother.” Johanna scoffed, pulling out a pack of cigarettes. “Go play your game.”
“Whoa, cold!” The boy put on an exaggeratedly wounded expression, but still came happily over to Valerie. “Hi, I’m Paxton. What’s your name?”
Valerie glanced at him. He looked vaguely familiar, like she’d seen him somewhere before.
But no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t remember where. She smiled at him. “I’m Valerie. Nice to meet you. How old are you?”
Paxton scratched his head, a little shy. “I’m in my second year of high school. Sixteen.”
“Don’t ask, or you’ll feel old,” Johanna said as she reached over to stop Valerie. “Want a smoke?”
Valerie shook her head. Paxton immediately reached out eagerly. “I do!”
“Get lost, kid!” Johanna snapped.
Paxton pouted and went over to the private room.
Inside the room was another high school student, clearly a classmate of his.
When he saw Valerie and Johanna walk in, he simply nodded and then turned to power on his computer.
Paxton enthusiastically introduced him. “This is my classmate, Jonah. He’s a quiet guy, not much of a talker, but he’s smart and good at everything, especially Fortnite. Trust me, with him and me together, we’ll definitely get first place.”
Johanna snorted.
Paxton didn’t mind and quickly chose a seat right next to Valeri
“Miss, how old are you? You must be in college, right? Which university?”
“Reano University,” Valerie sald, opening the computer and noting the high–end specs. “I’m twenty.”
Paxton said, “Wow, already twenty? You look like you’re only seventeen or eighteen. But I like older girls.”

Chapter 135
Johanna shut him down without mercy. “Forget it. She’s married.”
Paxton didn’t believe her. “You’re kidding!” But he still glanced at Valerie’s hand.
Johanna gave him a look of mock pity. “Just look at her left hand. That huge wedding ring on her ring finger. Isn’t it obvious?”
Valerie had gotten used to wearing the ring recently, so it wasn’t until Johanna mentioned it that she noticed it again.
Paxton hesitated. “Girls wearing rings on that finger is pretty normal these days.”
Sariah walked over gracefully, holding a cup of coffee. Hearing that, she also lifted her left hand and laughed. “Exactly. Super normal. I wear one too.”
Her ring was a flashy ruby surrounded by diamonds. It was glamorous and showy, completely different from the understated but luxuriously sparkling wedding ring on Valerie’s finger.
Paxton took a closer look and noticed the difference. Still unwilling to give up, he asked, “Miss, are you really married?”
Valerie smiled. “I really am.”
Paxton looked devastated. “Who’s your husband?”
“You know that classmate of yours? Josiah Walker? His older cousin, Aiden Walker. Ever heard of him?” Johanna said.
“The Walker family…” Paxton inhaled sharply. “Sorry to bother you, I’ll see myself out!”
Valerie chuckled.
Sariah leaned over and playfully hooked her arm around his. “See? I’m the only one who’s forever single. Why don’t you consider hanging out with me instead?”
Paxton pulled away, pretending to be grossed out. “No thanks. If I date you, your boyfriends might beat me to death.”
Johanna lit a cigarette, exhaled a smoke ring, and said with a laugh, “Don’t worry. Valerie also has a husband, and he’s way more ruthless than Sariah’s boyfriends.”
Paxton shivered and sulked in his chair. “You’re all bullying kids. Shameless!”
The game soon started.
Paxton jumped and marked a spot on the edge of the airfield, boasting, “I love intense fights, but since we’ve got two ladies on the team, we’ll play it safe. Come, follow me here. If you find an 8x scope or a Kar98k, remember to give it to me.”
Valerie used to play a little at home. She wasn’t very experienced, but she was smart and picked things up fast. She quickly adapted.
Sariah couldn’t play, so she just watched from behind. When she saw Valerie pick up a Kar98k, she exclaimed, “Valerie’s got a sniper rifle! Quick, give it to the kid and let him carry you to a win.”
Paxton ran over and, seeing the Kar98k, got excited. “Give it to me, quick! Just open your inventory and drop it.”
Johanna, cigarette in mouth, spoke. “Careful. I hear footsteps nearby.”
Paxton waved her off as he grabbed the Kar98k. “Don’t worry.
