“Now that you’re grown up, you no longer like her?” Valerie asked casually. Russell sighed and said, “It’s not that… I guess I’m just a little disappointed She’s not the sister I had imagined.”

Whenever he thought about the newly acknowledged biological sister, Russell felt like he should have been happy. But maybe because he had been surrounded by so many impressive girls, and especially with someone as clean and dazzling as Valerie right before him, his standards had been raised quite a bit. So when he saw the paternity test results today, he felt somewhat let down.

“Oh man,” Russell looked rather gloomy, but quickly pulled out an invitation he had prepared and said, “Forget it, let’s not talk about that. Here, the

Valerie glanced at the invitation.

The invitation was beautifully packaged, with gold edging and the Shelton family’s exclusive seal embossed on it. It looked very formal.

Russell handed it over and said, “I’ve already spoken to my family. They’re all looking forward to seeing you. Come a day early. I’ll book your flight, okay? I’ll have someone pick you up…”

“That’s it?” Russell scoffed lightly and reassured her, “Don’t worry, with me there, no one would dare touch you. Just take this invitation with guarantee everyone will treat you like royalty!”

Valerie burst out laughing as she replied, “I don’t want to be treated like royalty.”

“No worries, then I’ll be royalty and I’ll protect you!” Russell replied.

Valerie laughed in return as she replied, “Mmm, well, you said it! If someone dares to pick on me and you don’t help me, I’m cutting you off for good!”

“Pfft,” Russell waved a hand and added, “Relax, even if I didn’t back you up, my brother would. This invitation came directly from him. When you show up, your face represents his face. If someone bullies you, that’s basically an insult to my brother. And my brother is Carmen Shelton. He’s got as much status in the north as your husband has in the south. Has anyone dared to cross your husband down there?”

Valerie fully agreed and said, “Alright, I trust you.”

Russell felt like she was just overthinking, so he quickly changed the subject and started ordering food.

During the meat, Russell shared loads of juicy gossip from the industry, including one bit about Arianna.

Russell said, “Arianna’s background is really strong. Her dad’s a top exec. She’s had no scandals since her debut, always marketed as the rich, pretty girl type, and she’s gained tons of fans. All thanks to her dad, really. By the way, she’s actually been in the same class as your husband since primary school- you probably know her too, right?”

“I know her,” Valerie replied.

He probed, “What’s your relationship like?”

“Not good,” Valerie replied bluntly.

Russell clicked his tongue and said. “Arlanna’s team came to me. They want you to write a few songs for her?

“Me?” Valerie raised an eyebrow in surprise..

Russell explained, “Yeah. They liked the song we used in the drama. The credit says it was composed by ‘Valerie, so they thought it was just someone with the same hame. They probably haven’t realized that you’re the composer.”

Valerie looked puzzled and asked. “Why would they want me?”

“They love your style. Your music really stands out, and it’s a perfect match for the image she’s going for,” he replied.

Valerie recalled, “In my last life, Arianna really did explode in popularity thanks to my songs. No one ever knew those songs were stolen.

Russell added, “They’re offering quite a bit of money too. And if it takes off, they said they’ll throw in a bonus. Wanna give it a try?”

Valerie rejected him without hesitation, stating, “There’s no need to work with them.”

He said, “I figured as much. But your style has been showing up elsewhere too. There’s this duo of online singers who write and compose their own songs. Arianna’s team has also been in touch with them, though I don’t know how that’s going.”

‘A duo?‘ Valerie thought, her heart stirring. She asked, “What are their names?”

Russell replied, “They’re… Jasmine Duncan and Meredith Knapp?”

“I see…” Valerie murmured. She thought to herself, ‘Then Arianna and those two must have hit it off instantly.

‘After all, they’re the same kind of people–no remorse at all about stealing others‘ work. They’ll do whatever it takes to become famous.

‘If they really end up working together, that’ll be quite the spectacle.’

Just as Valerie had predicted, Arianna and the two singers got along perfectly and even planned further collaboration.

Meredith and Jasmine made it through the third round of the online singer competition without a hitch–right after that, Arianna’s team reached out.

Upon hearing that a big celebrity wanted to buy and adapt one of their songs. The two were so thrilled they couldn’t contain themselves and quickly arranged a meeting.

They had found quite a stash of songs from the box Valerie had accidentally left behind. Not only was it enough to get them through the rest of the competition, but there were plenty they could sell as well.

Arianna had high standards for the songs. She picked out five of the best ones and paid a total of 300 thousand dollars. Jasmine and Meredith were over
