Chapter 150
Valerie opened her mouth slightly and said, “You…”
But before she could say anything, Aiden had already lain down. Faced with Valerie’s slightly bewildered gaze, he raised an eyebrow, pressed her bre with his finger, and asked, “What’s with that look?”
Valerie replied, “Aren’t you supposed to sleep in the other room?”
Aiden’s gaze darkened slightly, and he probed, “You don’t want to sleep with me?”
“Uh…” Valerie blinked and said, “Didn’t you say I was too full of blood energy today, and it’d be unlucky for you to sleep with me?”
Aiden’s slightly tense expression eased a little, as if he found it amusing, and he laughed, “You heard that?”
Before Valerie could answer, he had already pulled her into his arms and murmured, “Don’t listen to her. That old hag’s head is full of superstitions and nonsense, with more taboos than you can count.”
Valerie stiffened slightly in his embrace, and hearing him say “old hag” made her burst out laughing. But the laughter tugged at her already aching belly, making her wince and frown slightly.
Aiden’s large, burning–hot palm settled over her slightly cold lower abdomen.
The warmth of a man’s hand seeped through like a perfectly heated pad resting on her stomach.
Valerie had sensitive skin and hated heat. She never liked using heat pads, but this hand on her belly felt much better than any of those.
With one hand still resting on her abdomen, Aiden reached out with the other to switch off the bedside lamp and said, “Sleep.”
Valerie’s heart began to race. In the glow of the warm, yellow night light, she could see the long shadows cast by his lashes, and the way the light sculpted his features–clear and deep.
Every inch of him looked as if heaven had carved him by hand.
Suddenly, Aiden raised his eyes and met her gaze. He leaned closer and asked, “What are you looking at?”
Valerie instinctively tried to look away, but Aiden was already close enough to kiss the corner of her lips. He whispered, “Close your eyes.”
In that moment, Valerie’s fluttering heart completely spilled over. She obediently shut her eyes and buried her face in the covers.
Aiden’s expression softened further as he wrapped her in his arms and closed his eyes.
That night, Valerie slept soundly–so much so that she didn’t even dream. She slept straight through to morning… but… that morning, her backside felt damp.
Aiden had already gotten up. Valerie instinctively reached over and touched the spot beside her–still warm. He must have just left the bed.
As she got up, she noticed the sheets were stained, and the bright red against the light–colored fabric was glaringly obvious.
She stared at the stain for a moment. Just as she was about to get up, the bathroom door opened.
Aiden walked over and immediately saw the patch of blood in front of Valerie.
Valerie paused, and then her face flushed instantly. She quickly covered the stain with both hands and said, “Why haven’t you gone to work yet?”
Aiden walked toward her and replied, “It’s still early.”
He reached over and gently pulled her hands away, exposing the blood underneath. His brows knit tightly as he asked, “You bleed this

month?”
As he spoke, Aiden silently wondered, ‘So much blood, and it goes on for five to seven days… how can anyone’s body handle that?
Especially someone as delicate as her can her body even take it?‘
Valerie grew even more embarrassed. Her cheeks red, she coughed lightly and said, “No… it’s just heavier this month. It’s never been this bad before
She thought, ‘It’s never been this bad before… could it be because of those birth control pills?‘
Aiden’s brows furrowed deeper as he recalled, ‘Aside from that first time, when I was too rough and used protection just in case….. every other time i

‘I never thought it would affect her body like this.‘
His Adam’s apple bobbed as he looked at her pink cheeks. His voice dropped unconsciously, and he asked, “Are you still in pain?”
“I… I’m fine,” Valerie avoided his gaze uncomfortably,
oked down, and said quickly, “I’m going to freshen up!”
She screamed internally, ‘I just woke up, haven’t brushed my teeth or washed my face–I must look awful… and he was standing so close… God, what if my breath stinks?‘
Valerie dashed into the bathroom. Facing the mirror, she glanced at her backside and saw that her sleepwear was indeed soaked–heavily stained
