Both of them then fell asleep together with a warm feeling in their hearts.

When Lyla woke up, she noticed Mark was still sleeping, so she woke up for a bath. After she cleaned up, she saw the clothes that Mark ripped open earlier, she sourly tossed them into the garbage.

The clothes he ripped were expensive! Even though it pained her to throw them away, she had to because they were almost ripped to shreds.

She looked at Mark sleeping on the bed. The way he moved when he was asleep was exactly the same when they first met, his facial features barely changed and were a lot more pronounced. It made him look a lot more mature.

She wanted to walk out of the room but somehow ended up beside the bed. She stroked his messy hair and revealed his perfect side cheek. Lyla curled her lips into a grin and moved closer for a kiss on his cheek.

It was Lyla’s first time kissing him like this, it felt casual and comfortable.

Mark was fast asleep, he did not notice the sensation on his cheek.

Lyla smiled and walked out.

Downstairs, Hansel had come home and was preparing food in the kitchen.

“What are you making?”

“Mommy!” Hansel said happily.

Lyla went over and sat down in front of the bar. “You don’t seem surprised to see me.”

“I saw daddy’s car, so I knew you had come back.”

“Why?”

“Because when you are not around, daddy doesn’t even come back. He’s been staying in the office for as long as you were inside. I even heard that he did not sleep for two days straight.”

Lyla was surprised. No wonder Mark was so soundly asleep.

For whatever reasons, Lyla felt even warmer as she was moved by the revelation.

Lyla smiled. “You must have slept soundly for the past few days, am I right?”

“No way. I could barely eat or sleep when you were inside.”

Lyla wanted to look away from the boy’s round and youthful face that could lie without flinching.

“So what’s for breakfast?”

“Yours and Daddy’s favorite. Hold on, breakfast is almost done.”

“Okay!”

It was then the door was pushed open strongly and Gretel barged in.

“Brother! Mommy… Mommy?!”

Gretel blinked blankly at Lyla. She heard that her mommy was taken away, yet she was sitting in front of her in the house. Was it an illusion or was she seeing things?

Lyla smiled from the bottom of her heart when she saw her daughter. “Gretel!”

She finally sighed a breath of relief.

Gretel strode over. “Mommy? I thought they took you away, how…”

“What? You don’t want me to come out?”

“No! What I mean is…”

“Mommy was framed, of course, they’d release her!” Hansel said. He was not surprised at all to see Gretel because he had eyes over her wherever she was, he already knew that the girl was on her way back.

Gretel looked a little gloomy when she heard what Hansel said. “I know mommy was framed but who did it?”

“Uh…” Hansel tossed a gaze at Lyla.

Lyla smiled. “It doesn’t matter anymore. The important thing is, is this the first thing you want to say to me when you come back?”

‘No…” Gretel then softened up and jumped into Lyla’s arms.

“Mommy, I missed you, You have no idea how worried I am. I came back as soon as I heard the news about you being taken.”

It was then Lingo came in through the door. She looked as casual and lazy as ever. “She hoped that she could have wings so that she could fly back immediately.”

Lyla smiled. “It’s fine now. Here, let me have a look at you. It’s been a while, how are you?”

“No! I want to hug you for a little longer.”

Lyla did not know whether to cry or to laugh at Gretel. “You were not a coddled child before this!”

“Come on, I miss you whenever I head out.” Gretel hugged Lyla tightly with no intentions of letting her go.

Lyla was a little helpless. She looked at Lingo and asked, “Was she like this when you guys were away?”

Lingo shook her head. “Nope. She was fine when she was outside.”

Lyla smiled again and softly took the girl’s hands off her waist. “Come on, let me have a look at how pampered you are now.”

“I’m not asking to be pampered!”

Lyla stroked her hair and her cheeks. It had been a few days, yet Lyla felt that Gretel grew up a little, she did not know how to describe the changes.

“You look darker,” Lyla said.

Surprisingly, Gretel did not argue or throw a tantrum, instead, she said, “I guess that’s what happens when you have to hustle outside. I can’t possibly take care of everything.”

Lyla was speechless.

For a moment there, she suspected that the girl before her was not her daughter because her daughter cared about her looks the most.

The truth was Gretel did grow up a little in the past few days. It has only been days but Lyla made the right decision to let go of her.

She did not regret it at all.

While Gretel was clinging to her mother, Hansel attentively walked over to Lingo.

He served her a cup of coffee. “Tired?”

Lingo reacted like a queen. “It’s nothing.”

“So I assumed it went well?”

“With me on the case, of course, it went well.” All Lingo did was give the boy a fierce glance and it managed to shut Hansel up.

“Okay, my bad.”

Lingo puckered her lips and squinted her eyes. She moved closer to Hansel and asked, “So do you want to train with me next time?”

“Me?”

“Yeah. you.” Lingo lazily raised her brow.

“I wanted to but I can’t simply leave. If I walk with you, what about the stocks?”

Hansel knew why Gretel reacted poorly because Felix was…

Things had gotten more and more troublesome, so troublesome that Hansel did not know how to approach things.

“I got it. I have to prepare breakfast, we’ll talk later.” Hansel feigned nonchalance and walked away.

He thought he feigned it perfectly but Lingo was able to catch the expression on his face.

Gretel’s reaction to the incident and Hansel’s question seemed to be pointing that they knew Felix.

While Lingo was thinking, Lyla came over and had a chat with her.

It was then Mark woke up and did not see Lyla anywhere in bed. He grabbed something to wear and came out.

“Daddy!” Gretel sweetly called Mark when she saw him come out of the room.

Mark sprinted downstairs with a smile when he heard Gretel. “Gretel!”

He carried the girl in his arms and said, “You’re back? Did you miss me?”

“I did!”

“You got slimmer,” Mark said.

“Really? It seems like it’s even better than me dieting at home.”

“In my eyes, you are the perfect little angel. You never need to go on a diet,” Mark consoled her.

Gretel chuckled.

“You’re back early,” Mark stated.

“I heard something happened to Mommy, so I came back early,” Gretel said.

“Daddy, I heard from Brother that Mommy was framed, who was that person?”

“I’ll deal with it.” Mark did not want his daughter to be involved or hurt by this incident.

Since her daddy did not want to talk, Gretel did not ask. She had her ways to find out the culprit even if her parents did not want to talk about it.

Gretel smiled and kept quiet.

Then, Mark walked over to the bar counter and saw Lingo. “How’s my little girl, did she give you any trouble?”

Lingo grinned. “Not at all, but Mr. Pattinson, should I claim the expenses I spent on her from you?”

“Expenses for babysitting a girl?”

“I brought your daughter out, didn’t I?”

“But she’s one of Hell’s Angels, shouldn’t you claim it from the organization?”

“Mr. Pattinson, I heard from others that you are a scrooge. I never believed it because I know that you are generous towards women but now, it seems like they were right and you did not disappoint at all.”

Mark’s face twitched helplessly. “I’ll take it as a compliment. In fact, I’ve been a scrooge for many years now.”

Lyla smiled beside him. She knew Lingo said it on purpose to scare Mark. She did not mind though, she knew about Mark’s past after all.

What she saw in him was his willingness to change for her and what comes after this.

Lingo gave Mark a big thumbs up and conceded.
