In the bar, Arden drank himself drunk at the bar counter.

His head replayed the scene of Lyla walking away with Mark over and over again.

Eight years. Eight years later and she buried him in the bottom of her heart. Arden had been waiting for one day for Lyla to know and to be moved, he waited for her to be at his side.

He did not expect it to turn out like this.

Lyla Lowe… Lyla Lowe…

He was drunk but he kept muttering Lyla’s name repeatedly.

Kathleen came into the bar and saw the drunkard on the bar counter. She strode over.

“Why didn’t you answer your calls?”

Arden did not even look at her, he kept drinking.

Kathleen snatched the glass away from him. “Look at me, tell me did you sell me out?”

Arden finally turned around and looked at her with his drunk gaze. He bellowed, “Go away.”

Kathleen would never go away. Instead, she grabbed him closer and said, “Tell me what happened!”

Arden did not want to talk, he got up and walked outside while muttering, “Lyla, Lyla…”

Kathleen was furious when she heard Lyla’s name. She grabbed him by the arm and bellowed, “Arden! After all that’s happened and you are still thinking of that woman? She’s with another man now! She’s with Mark!”

Arden turned a deaf ear at her and continued walking. Kathleen followed him and her rage took over her sanity, driving her to slap the man’s face.

Arden was shocked and woken up by that slap.

“Fine! You can like her, go to her but what about me? Did you sell me out? Arden! Don’t you forget that we are in the same boat! If you sell me out, I won’t let this go easily!” Kathleen bellowed as she glared at him.

Arden squinted his eyes at her. “It’s you? What nonsense are you talking about?”

“Hoho, you are finally awake?”

“I’m warning you to cut the nonsense.”

“Nonsense? Arden! You sold me out because you want to save Lyla, didn’t you?! You liked that woman that much? So much that you can forego everything?”

Arden looked around and muttered, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Don’t know? Why didn’t you pick up my calls? Why is Lyla out? I’m warning you! If you really sold me out, don’t even expect to walk away easily!” Kathleen then furiously turned around and left.

Arden stood there, watching her walk away for a moment before he chased after her.

“Did someone tell you something?” Arden asked.

“If you didn’t do it, why are you afraid?”

“I’m telling you I did not sell you out, you better don’t simply trust people. You should know what Mark is capable of.”

Kathleen’s furious look slightly softened up and looked a little hesitant after hearing Arden’s explanation. She knew that Mark never played by the rules, even if something happened, Mark could solve it without even stepping in.

Would he do the same about this as well?

Arden looked at her. “Of course I know that we are on the same boat. Betraying you means betraying me and it’s something that I’ll never do!”

“What about Lyla? Did you bail her out?” Kathleen asked.

“Yes.”

“Hmph! You still can’t forget about her. I’m starting to regret working with you now,” Kathleen said coldly.

Arden reacted sourly. “Isn’t this what you’re after? You are the one who told me to do it! What’s wrong now? Or you are planning something else from the start?”

Kathleen was silenced.

Arden took her silence as a chance to further confront her. “Kathleen, I know what you are thinking. You never planned to leave her out of this, I warned you before and I forgave you for what you did to her before, but don’t you ever dare to challenge my bottom line!”

Bottom line?

Kathleen scoffed. “Bottom line? Even up until now she’s your bottom line? Arden, are you still trying to hurt yourself because of her? It seems like you are more persistent than me, you basically brought this upon yourself!”

Arden reacted sourly at Kathleen’s scoffs. “You better watch your mouth.”

Kathleen coldly replied, “Don’t make me regret working with you. If you are still trying to be Mr. Good Guy, showing her mercy, don’t blame me for not warning you.”

She wanted to leave after giving Arden her warnings but Arden grabbed her.

“What are you trying to do?”

“You don’t have to know.”

“You don’t you dare overreach.”

“Overreach? It’s nothing when compared to you!” Kathleen swung his arm off her. “I’ll take the responsibility for what I do, but don’t you get in my way or cut off my retreat!”

Kathleen furiously walked away.

Arden watched her walk away with furrowed brows.

Lyla Lowe. Every time he thought of the name his heart hurt, but now, he had to learn how to discard her from his head.

……

M.K.’s design department was over the moon when they learned that Lyla was released.

She was like the soothing pill to the department, her coming back meant that there was still hope for M.K., at least Mark would go all out for her.

She was surrounded the moment she stepped into office. Her colleagues were concerned about her and the company.

After what happened, everyone was scared and they were worried because they had not been getting updates on the matter.

Lyla was able to smile despite the difficult times. Lily did not know whether she should cry or smile.

Ethan was quite calm amid the chaos, he did not say a word because he shared the same thought with Lyla.

Lyla walked over to the leaving colleagues and smiled at them. “I know everyone is determined to leave and I’m not here to ask you guys to stay. No matter what happens, if you guys want to be back one day, our door is always open.”

Lyla did not blame them, she even left them with an open offer. Some of the leaving colleagues started to hesitate, they did not know whether it was the right choice to leave.

“Director Lowe…”

“I hope you guys can adapt to the new working environment!” Lyla smiled.

Lily stood behind her, having no idea what she was thinking.

Then, a few of the leaving colleagues decided to stay.

“I’m not leaving anymore!”

“Director! I’m staying!”

“Are you sure about this?” Lyla asked.

“Yeah! You are good to us and so is Mr. Pattinson, this is the place where I started my career, so I’m not leaving!”

Lyla smiled. “Great, you know I won’t blame you for leaving but if you decided to stay, I’d appreciate that. Thank you.”

More and more decided to stay after the touching speech. Lyla’s words managed to move them.

“I’m not leaving either!”

“Me too!”

However, some of them were determined to leave.

Lyla did not stop them but after what she said, some of them decided to stay.

Lily finally knew what Lyla was trying to do.

She strode over and said, “We should believe in Mr. Pattinson and believe in the director! After the company overcomes the situation, we will be the company’s founding members!”

She said that jokingly but it managed to spark hope in everyone.

Lyla nodded. “I believe Mr. Pattinson will repay your loyalty handsomely.”

“Yeah!”

Everyone nodded.

Mark also received news about what happened but he was not angry, instead, he praised and admired Lyla’s methods after knowing what she did.

“Mr. Pattinson, what now? A lot of our designers were scouted, this will definitely affect the company’s operations.”
