Chapter 50
If Nydia were to run over and plead with him not to leave, he could reluctantly give her a chance to smooth things over.
Yet, up until this moment, Nydia had been standing still in the same spot, either chatting with Nelson or responding to Eddie’s questions. It appeared that she was extremely occupied and didn’t even have a second to spare him a glance.
A surge of rage flooded his heart, fueled by her lack of appreciation. It would be like reaching for the stars if she ever wanted to reveal her identity as Mrs. Wilcher in the future.
He turned his head to Mona and said, “Fine, I’ll listen to you!”
He was that Nydia would regret her decision and come running back in tears after a few
steps.
Unfortunately, he was nearly exiting the venue, but she was still in conversation with the judges and seemed to have no interest in acknowledging his presence whatsoever.
“Fine, okay. Nydia, you’ve got a lot of nerve!” He was fuming as he picked up his pace. Even if Nydia regretted it now, she definitely wouldn’t be able to catch up with him. However, he was overthinking it.
Despite dealing with the unexpected inspection from those judges, Nydia had a cheerful smile. as she sent off those important people. She didn’t even seem to remember that she still had a husband who was soon to be her ex.
Points were used to determine the winner of this practical contest. As they chose not to participate in the hands–on portion, she and Nelson did not receive a high rank. Yet, thanks to Homer, they garnered more attention than even the first–place finisher.
Norman grabbed Nydia’s fingers and shook them while pleading, “Are you done yet? Let’s go. get something to eat, please! I’m hungry” His adorable voice was irresistible.
Nydia bent down and scooped him up in her arms. “What do you want to eat?”
“I want the pasta you make.”
“Just that?”
“I also want the baked salmon that you make.”
She chuckled. “No problem.” She playfully tapped the tip of his nose with her finger, then remembered the presence of the child’s proper guardian.
“Mr. Houle, could you let Norman stay with me for a while? I promise that I’ll send him back to you before it gets dark.”
Nelson also chimed in, “I can help take care of him. Mr. Houle, you don’t have to worry.”
Eddie’s initial reaction was to nod in agreement, but Nelson’s words caused his brows to knit together and a hint of displeasure to creep onto his face.
Norman asked earnestly, “Ms. Vega, could you also cook a meal for Uncle Eddie? He hasn’t caten either.”
Nydia was taken aback. Would Eddie like these home–cooked dishes she made? He was a big shot who was used to all kinds of delicacies.
Norman’s eyes were starting to redden. “Ms. Vega, could Uncle Eddie have some?”
Nydia snapped out of her daze. “Of course, he can. I’m just not sure if Mr. Houle will turn up
his nose at it.”
The displeasure on Eddie’s face disappeared in an instant, and he resumed his aloof and
indifferent look.
“I won’t”
