Eliza's hand trembled around her fists. Deep down, she knew Isolde was lying, but she had no choice but to comply.
Lucky was her lifeline. She'd trade her own life for him if it meant saving him.
"Okay."
In the early autumn, the air was biting cold.
Eliza shivered in her thin clothes as she stood by the pool.
Isolde pointed at the empty pool smugly. "Right in front of you. Can you see it? It's still sparkling."
Isolde laughed at Eliza's plight. "I almost forgot—you're blind. You guys keep an eye on Ms. Vance. She can't leave until she finds that ring."
Just as Isolde turned away, Benson's voice rang out behind her. "What's going on?"
Isolde was shocked, rushing into Benson's arms, "Benson, Ms. Vance's dog threw my ring into the pool. I wanted to punish that dog, but Ms. Vance stopped me. She said she had to personally get it back first. I felt sorry for her after waking up so weak and kept trying to stop her, but she wouldn't listen."
Listening to Isolde, Eliza couldn't help but smirk sarcastically.
Lucky was trained. There was no way he would just mess with someone else's stuff, let alone throw Isolde's ring into the pool.
No matter how much Benson adored Isolde, he wouldn't let her lie through her teeth.
Benson stared at Eliza's retreating figure, his hands tensed at his sides, but then he wrapped his arms around Isolde. "If her dog messed up, it's up to her to fix it. Let her look for it. She can't go back until she finds it."
At Benson's words, Eliza, feeling hopeless, jumped into the pool with a splash.
In the icy water, Eliza shivered uncontrollably, her fingers searching the bottom for a ring that wasn't even there.
As the sky darkened, Eliza's strength began to fade.
She shook her head towards the servants, saying, "I can't find it."
Seeing her desperate state, one of the servants opened their mouth to speak, but suddenly Benson's voice echoed from the second floor. "If she can't find it, she needs to keep looking. That ring is my wedding ring with Isolde."
Eliza froze upon hearing this, a wave of despair washing over her.
