It’s already midnight.

I’ve been lying in bed for over an hour, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep.

My mind is a mess, and no matter how hard I try, I can’t shake off the thoughts.

I reached for my phone on the nightstand and mindlessly scrolled through TikTok.

Before three minutes had passed, a call popped up at the top of the screen.

Seeing the “sugar daddy” contact name, I instantly threw the phone aside, almost as if shocked by an electric shock.

The phone tumbled across the bed, rolling off and hitting the floor.

In the dark, the glow of the screen flickered as the video changed colors.

The harsh ringtone echoed through the empty bedroom.

The first call went unanswered and was automatically hung up.

It was over.

I missed his call.

He didn’t call back, but the second one was a video call.

I turned on the room lights and quickly bent down to pick up the phone.

Lucas’s face appeared in the middle of the screen.

It was still afternoon on his side, with a fiery orange sunset on the horizon.

I took the lead. “Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?”

The man smiled, “Miss Isabella, it’s twelve o’clock here in Canada. Why aren’t you asleep and are still scrolling through videos?”

“Is it because you can’t sleep without me hugging you?”

He came up with an excuse for me, and I simply agreed, “Mm.”

His knuckles tapped lightly on the table. “Just wait a few more days, there’s a lot going on here. I’ll wrap things up quickly and come back.”

I didn’t really listen to what he was saying, just responding absentmindedly.

“I should’ve tied you to my waist and brought you on this business trip.”

I ignored him.

I only noticed the paper on the right side of the nightstand.

It had five words written on it.

– Pregnancy Test Report.

I’m pregnant.

It happened on the third day after Lucas went abroad.

For the past few days, I’d been overly sleepy during the day, so I suspected something was wrong with my health and went to the hospital to get checked.

When I got the report, my hands and feet turned cold.

Lucas happened to call to ask why I went to the hospital.

“I’ve been tired the past few days, so I went to the hospital to see what’s going on.”

Lucas’s voice was lazy. “You’ve been sleeping like a little pig every day. If you don’t sleep for ten hours, you can’t get up.”

To avoid him noticing anything strange, I retorted. “You’re the little pig.”
