After my miscarriage, I accidentally overheard my husband Kevin Jackson telling the doctor:

"Find an opportunity to drug my wife, then remove her uterus. I want to make sure she can never get pregnant again."

He then placed his large hand on another woman's belly and instructed:

"Arrange the best prenatal care for her. I want her child to become the heir of the Jackson family."

I recognized the woman—she was a streamer from Kevin's company.

I heard him sternly remind the doctor again:

"Also, make sure my wife recovers well. If this surgery leaves any lasting health issues for her, none of you will be able to escape responsibility."

On the way back to my hospital room, I felt completely dazed, my mind replaying the scene I had just witnessed over and over again.

The man who once cherished me like a priceless gem, who loved me so deeply, had been secretly cheating on me with another woman—and even had my uterus removed.

And he knew better than anyone that all I ever wanted was a child.

As I walked by, a young nurse glanced at me with envy and whispered to her colleague:

"Her husband didn't want anything to disturb her rest, so he rented out this entire floor just for her. He even hired a team of professional nurses to take care of her meals and daily needs. And if that's not enough, he insists on staying by her side 24/7. Honestly, I've never seen anyone so in love with their wife."

"During her miscarriage, her husband cried so much his eyes were swollen. I've never seen a man care so much for his wife. I heard they were college sweethearts, and he even transferred his entire family business into her name just to marry her."

If this had been in the past, hearing such things would have filled me with happiness.

But now, it made my throat feel as though a fly were stuck in it, leaving me utterly nauseated.

Just then, Kevin's furious voice erupted from a nearby hospital room:

"You're all useless! You couldn't even watch over one person. If anything happens to Caroline, I swear I'll make you all pay!"

Kevin rarely lost his temper. The last time I saw him this angry was when I fell seriously ill. He had taken me to every hospital he could find, only to discover none of them could treat me. He was so desperate that he nearly smashed the hospital to pieces and even contemplated dying with me.
