Chapter 138 

Alexander was busy, consumed by the wreckage of his life. 

Then, out of the corner of his eye, he saw a commotion. Doctors hurriedly moved around the operating room, their voices rising in panic as they exchanged words he couldn’t fully hear. Immediately, he turned on the mic, and listened to the conversation. 

“Her liver is severely damaged, it’s shutting down.” The head surgeon said. 

“What’s he saying?” Alexander asked the doctor standing next to him. 

The man stammered as he answered. “It means, she will only have a few days to live, sir if we don’t find a donor on time.” 

The words hit Alexander like a sledgehammer. His stomach twisted into knots, and his hands trembled. Emma’s condition- was far worse than he had thought. Her liver was failing, and without a transplant, she wouldn’t survive. 

Alexander’s heart pounded in his chest as he absorbed the gravity of the situation. He knew the reality all too well. Over the years, he had seen countless patients die while waiting for a compatible donor. The odds of finding one in time were slim, almost impossible. 

Human livers couldn’t just be stored indefinitely, and the hospital didn’t have a suitable match on hand. 

The medical team stood in a straight line, their faces filled with determination as they volunteered to be tested. It was a noble gesture, indeed. 

But testing each person, waiting for results would take too long. Time was a luxury Emma didn’t have. 

His chest tightened as he watched the scene unfold. He couldn’t let this happen. Emma had already endured so much, raising their children alone, hiding her pain, and now fighting for her life. She was the mother of his twins at the end of the day. 

He closed his eyes for a moment, taking a deep, shaky breath. 

He had spent hours undergoing every tests in the past all thanks to his mother. 

But now, those tests might actually serve a purpose. 

Alexander opened his eyes, his expression hardening with resolve. This was no longer about pride or past grievances. This was about saving the woman who had given him more than he ever deserved. 

He rose to his feet, his tall frame commanding attention as he strode toward the group of doctors. The panic in the room increases as they spotted him approaching them 

“Doctor,” he addressed the lead surgeon, his voice cold but tinged with urgency. Everyone in the room immediately froze on their spots, their hands at their sides in fear. 

“Check my previous evaluations. Compare them to Emma’s recipient details.” 

The room went silent as his words sank in. 

“I’m offering to be her liver donor,” he said firmly, his gaze unwavering. 

The lead surgeon hesitated, clearly taken aback. “Mr. Blackthorn, donating a portion of your liver is a serious decision, sir. It’s not without risks, even for someone in your health.” 

Alexander’s jaw tightened, his voice cold and resolute. “I don’t care about the risks. This is my responsibility. She is my ex wife, and I won’t stand by while she dies.”
