Kevin stepped into Alexander’s office with a measured stride, his expression somber as he shut the door behind him. He bowed slightly, clearing his throat before speaking. 

“The man you asked me to look into, Kevin began, “he’s not just some random guy.” 

Alexander, who had been leaning back in his chair, instantly sat upright. His brow furrowed in suspicion as he motioned for Kevin to continue. 

“He’s one of the Fernando brothers,” Kevin said, his voice even but with an undercurrent of importance. 

Alexander stared back at him for a moment, his face incredulous. “You can’t be serious,” he said with sudden sharpness. “There’s no way he’s a Fernando, and I didn’t recognize him.” 

Kevin nodded solemnly. “He’s been out of the country for several years. He came back into the country just days after Mrs. Black returned. 

Alexander’s jaw clenched, his mind racing. “If he is one of the Fernandos, then Emma’s relationship to Jaden doesn’t make a lick of sense,” he muttered, mostly to himself. 

His thoughts spiraled back to that crazy morning at the flower shop where some man had claimed to be Entrna’s fiance, making such a scene. It didn’t add up whatsoever. 

How could Emma, who had lived a poor life for the past five years, suddenly be attached to someone as influential as Fernandos?

“There’s more to this,” Alexander said in a very low but firm tone of voice. He stared in the general direction of Kevin, all stern and hard. “I want you to dig deeper, search for that man who came to the flower shop five years ago. Figure out who he is, where he is, and most importantly, why he is to Emma.” Kevin nodded. “I’ll get onto that right away, sir” he said and abruptly made his way out the door. 

With a soft click, the door swung shut. Alexander rose from his chair and paced the length of the room. His mind raged with questions, one following on the heels of the other in rapid succession. Alexander knew the Fernando family inside out, though never personally, due to the name being synonymous with power and influence. And yet, if Emma truly were linked. to them, he found it strange that they had not utter one word about her twins. 

She was hiding something, something monumental, and Alexander could feel its weight upon him. His.chest tightened with frustration. First, Emma’s return to the country had shaken him now, with this new revelation, it seemed the very earth he stood on had started crumbling. 

Alexander’s fists were clenching, his resolution hardening. He did not know what Emma was hiding, but it was only a matter of time before he found out.

After spending a week at that the hospital, the day Emma longed for finally arrived–it was time to go home. Stepping outside the doors with Ethan, Emily, and Jaden, the freshness of the air outside had taken a welcome turn. It was goodbyes great feeling, and fond wishes from all the families and other patients they had met while in the hospital, assuring them that they would stay in touch. 

Ethan was still a bit pale, but he was grinning as Emily 

inued to entertain him with her funny faces and playful chatter in the back of the car. Their giggles filled the vehicle, and Emma couldn’t help but glance in the rearview mirror, her heart swelling with relief and gratitude. After all they’d been through. Her son’s smile seemed like a miracle 

As the car cruised along, Emma busied herself with her phone, her tingers scrolling through endless comments and posts about Aurora Honors. Since she had teased her upcoming reveals the CEO of W2 HOLDINGS, the internet had exploded with anticipation. The “Strong Woman Challenge” was still trending–a viral movement she never expected to spark. Now, a new wave of excitement had taken over: the “Countdown Challenge.”
