Lucy took photos of me, her grin widening with satisfaction.

“I’m sending these pictures to Jack right now. Let’s see if he still wants you after this.”

My appearance was now a grotesque mess—blood and powdered milk smeared everywhere, making me barely recognizable from who I once was.

Lucy dialed Jack again and put the call on speaker. His voice was distant and indifferent, clearly not connecting the dots.

“Lucy, what’s the fuss about? What are you making a scene for?”

“Jack, you’re the one who led me on, letting things get so ambiguous between us! Now that I’ve shown my true feelings, you think you can just discard me? Is it that easy?”

Jack sighed; his tone resigned. “I’ll handle this. We’ll talk when we meet.”

He confirmed Lucy’s location, ended the call, and quickly dispatched a male assistant to the scene.

The assistant, unfamiliar with me, didn’t recognize who I was. As I desperately tried to explain that I was Jack’s wife and plead for help, he dismissed it as a ploy.

“My God, Lucy, how could you do this? To a pregnant woman, no less?”

Lucy sneered. “And what about it? Look at you, without ambition or drive, you can only be a small assistant. I'm different from you. I'll do anything for Jack! And he said he would handle these things for me!”

The assistant, clearly overwhelmed, decided to send a video to Jack, detailing the severity of the situation, and called for an emergency vehicle.

As I was being lifted into the ambulance, a new, sharp pain pierced through my abdomen. I felt something dropping inside me.

Panic surged through me, and I clutched my stomach, whispering desperately.
