“Apologize!”

Jack roared, shoving Lucy’s head down as she reluctantly muttered her apologies.

He kept glancing at his watch, clearly impatient, like a man desperate to get home.

He was caught between managing this chaos and dealing with things back home.

Such a touching display of devotion.

Probably because he hadn’t been able to reach me for a while, he grew anxious and repeatedly dialed my spare cell phone.

No one answered until the calls started coming in from outside.

The male assistant, growing more frustrated, grabbed my cell phone, kept hanging up, and cursed under his breath.

“What a nag! Her husband’s called a dozen times. If he keeps calling, I’ll keep hanging up!”

Jack, confused, grabbed the phone and saw the contact name— “Husband”—which was the same as his own.

“Where did this phone come from?” Jack yelled, losing his composure. “Where did this phone come from?!”

The assistant, trembling, pointed at me.

Before I could say anything, Lucy lunged at me, laughing maniacally and clearly unhinged.

“Why should I apologize? It’s her fault to begin with. She seduced you, got pregnant, and tried to steal you from me. Why should I be the one apologizing?”

Jack, now fed up, couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “What are you rambling about? Just apologize already!”

“I won’t!”

Lucy glared at me as if she’d lost her mind, then stomped over in her high heels and grabbed me by the hair.

“Why should I apologize? It’s her fault! She seduced you, got pregnant with your child, and tried to take you away from me. What did I do wrong?”

Jack had lost patience, his tone tinged with disbelief: “What are you talking about? Apologize right now!”

“I refuse!”
