“And,” David added with a mocking smirk, “this one’s better than Nash, huh? You must be thrilled.” 

Caroline nearly rolled her eyes, tempted to say, Yeah, exactly! So what? What’s it to you? 

But Cameron wasn’t someone she could just throw into an argument. He was a high–profile client. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to stay composed. There was no point in getting into an argument with David over this. 

“The guy you’re talking about–his name is Cameron,” she said matter–of–factly. “Even if you’ve never met him, I’m sure you know who he is.” 

David’s expression shifted slightly. Cameron? Yeah, he knew that name. 

Cameron Scott–the eldest son of the Scott family. His business empire dominated the luxury jewelry and high–end medicinal industries, holding an almost monopolistic position. 

Wealthy, well–connected, and someone you didn’t want as an enemy. 

Ellison Group and Scott Group had a long–standing partnership. Cameron was a major client, but Boris was the one who usually handled business with him. David had only met him a few times. 

Caroline continued, crossing her arms. “Mr. Boris specifically assigned me to handle Mr. Cameron’s visit. He arrived this afternoon, so I went to greet him. He was polite and professional, and since it was dinnertime, we ate together. But I wasn’t about to let a client pay for dinner. The bill was 5,000 dollars–I have the receipt and invoice right here. I was planning to submit them for reimbursement tomorrow. David, do you want to check them? If you hadn’t barged in, I would’ve already reported everything to Mr. Boris, including the expense. So–do you still have a problem?” 

She kept her voice steady, refusing to let him twist the situation. 

Cameron was way out of her league–way out. The idea that she could “seduce” him or have some secret affair was laughable. 

David’s eyes darkened. “Boris sent you to meet Cameron? Alone?” 

“Mr. Cameron has a strong interest in R&D. He wanted to discuss technical aspects in detail, so he asked to meet with me. If you don’t believe me, let’s clear it up right now.” 

She grabbed her phone, dialed Boris, and put the call on speaker. 

“Caroline?” Boris answered almost immediately. “You’re done with the meeting? How did it go? Calling this late–must’ve been a good conversation.” 

“Mr. Boris, Mr. Cameron left already. His flight was tonight, so he’s probably boarding now. He’s very interested in Caroz. We talked a lot. He even offered to supply raw materials at a discount if we develop new products. He has a premium batch of ginseng for high–end skincare, and he said he’d hold it for me if I need it–same price, no markup. There are more details, but I’ll go over everything with you tomorrow.” 

Boris chuckled. “Sounds great. Get some rest.” 

Caroline locked eyes with David before adding, “Mr. Boris, I think it would be best if I wasn’t sent alone to meet Mr. Cameron next time. Just to avoid any unnecessary misunderstandings.”
