How peculiar. He could’ve done the investigation directly–why go out of his way to arrange a meeting? Could it be that he wanted to see me? Or was there another purpose behind it? 

Caroline was just about to reply when the laboratory door opened slowly. 

Someone entered. 

She quickly stuffed her phone into her pocket and turned to look. 

It was Boris. 

“Mr. Boris, what brings you here?” Caroline asked as she stood. “I’m working on the formula, but there hasn’t been much progress.” 

“Don’t worry about it. Take it slow; there’s still time.” 

Next to her, Anna chimed in, “Mr. Boris, can we consider increasing the budget? Caroline and I have already tested nearly every ingredient, but it’s still falling short of your requirements.” 

“How much of an increase are we talking?” Boris asked. 

“About ten dollars.” 

It didn’t sound like much, but once the product hit production lines and millions of units were made, the additional cost would amount to tens of millions. 

After some thought, Boris admitted to himself that his expectations were likely too high. After all, the Ellison Group was new to the beauty and skincare market, and starting out was never easy. 

He was about to agree when Caroline interjected. “No need, Mr. Boris. I’ll find another way. I won’t raise the cost unless it’s absolutely necessary.” 

Her tone was firm, and her gaze was unwavering. 

Boris suddenly felt a new sense of respect for her. 

“Alright, I trust you,” he said. “But if it doesn’t work out, we’ll go with Anna’s suggestion to revise the formula and increase the cost.” 

“Thank you, Mr. Boris, for trusting me.” 

“I recall you once developed a skincare product for the Newton Group. It was low–cost yet very effective. You’re experienced in this field,” Boris said with a smile “Wasn’t it love that inspired your success back then?” 

Caroline gave a helpless smile. “Honestly, I didn’t expect it to do so well. I was just experimenting for fun, and it unexpectedly became a market hit.” 

“Do the same now. Stay relaxed, and aim to outperform the Newton Group’s product in sales.” 

“What? Mr. Boris, that’s a lot of pressure!”
