"seeing you nervous actually brings me joy" Jack called from the living room. I stood in the mirror smoothing down my dress.

I was getting ready for my date with Nick. I wasn't nervous but going on this date is a pretty big deal. I had no idea what it would lead to, but I was optimistic that it would be a night to remember.

Don't ask me why jack is here. It's not normal for your boss to help you get ready for a date, but I think after being friends with this man for god knows how long we have our reasons.

"Molly I love you and everything but why did you decide to bring that idiot here" I called out. I heard a faint "hey" before grabbing my shoes and heading towards them.

All I know about tonight's date is that we are going to a restaurant. Since he only gets off work at 6, I decided to just meet him there I'm sure that would be easier for him that way.

"you look beautiful," Molly says as I join them in the living room. I look down at my dress proud of how I look. I usually stick to tight bodycon dresses but this one has a flirty theme to it and I actually really like it.

Molly slapped jack "stunning Selene but you're looking a bit bare why aren't you wearing a necklace. I reached up to my chest.

He was right, I'm not wearing jewellery.

I raced upstairs and looked for my diamond necklace.

After adding a few final touches, I went downstairs and waiting for Benny.

When he arrived, I walked out and gave him the directions.

"I don't think I'll be needing your service for the rest of the night benny," I said poking my head through the console.

I'm sure Nick can give me a ride home.

"just keep me on speed dial. No time is an inconvenience for me" I smiled knowing how protective benny is after my whole accident.

I've only just been able to convince him that it wasn't his fault.

"you're the best," I said placing a kiss on his cheek. Benny opened the door for me and waited. I stepped out of the car outside the restaurant where I would meet Nick.

Because of traffic, I was already 20 minutes late but I'm hoping he didn't mind.

As I walked up to the entrance a man opened the doors for me. "welcome to hutong Miss" he said leading me further inside.

"over here please," he said directing me to a quiet table in the deepest part of the restaurant. The table for two was lit up with candles and above us were dangling Chinese lanterns. It gave off the Chinese feel which I admired.

He handed me a menu "I'll be your waiter for the evening. My name is Ian can I start you off with a drink whilst we wait for your date" I smiled liking this kind man already.

"how did you know I was on a date" I humourlessly asked stopping him.

He angled his head slightly "No woman comes dressed as beautiful as you, all dolled up for a dinner with friends. Whoever the guy is he better count himself lucky" I swooned.

Some might think of that as creep possibly pervy, but I liked it. It wasn't too vulgar and wasn't something you heard every day.

"a glass of rose please," I said closing he drinks menu and handing it over to him.

He nodded before disappearing to get my drink.

I was already 20 minutes late I wondered why Nick wasn't here yet. I know that he is very busy with work and sometimes he can lose track of time, but this is unlike him.

If he couldn't make it tonight, he would have let me know in advance.

I unlocked my phone and checked Instagram, maybe if I give him 10 to 15 more minutes he will turn up.

Ian returned with my drink. "one Rose, and bread for starters" he placed down a small basket of bread with different spreads.

He left me straight after tending to other customers.

20 minutes went by and as well as my patience wearing thin, a lot of people started to notice how I was sitting alone.

Probably felt sympathy for poor me getting stood up.

"would you like to order something miss, another drink perhaps" Ian came back.

I felt embarrassed.

"That won't be necessary Ian" I waved him off pulling out my phone and dialling his number.

Ian excused himself as I took the call. After a few rings, he finally answered.

"I can explain," he said straight off the bat without even saying hello.

I rolled my eyes. "This wasn't what I expected of you, Nick. Have you forgotten how to call text, tweet? You wanted this date and for one, you don't turn up, but you fail to be decent enough to message me" I wanted him to understand how angry I was.

But then again, I didn't want to make a scene in the restaurant.
