Silas wouldn’t give her the chance. He’d wronged Amelia enough. If there
was any hope of reconciliation, the baby had to go.

Silas watched the apology video online. He felt a flicker of satisfaction, but
no joy. What good was an apology? It wouldn’t bring Amelia back.
He still hadn’t found her. She’d vanished without a trace, as if she’d never
existed. If it weren’t for the digital remnants of her life, he would have thought
she was a dream.
“If I hadn’t gone to Bethany that day…maybe things would be different. If I
hadn’t given in to temptation…” He sat in a bar, drowning his sorrows in whiskey.
