“Silas, man, what’s the point? Bethany screwed up, she’s paid the price. Are 

you really that hung up on Amelia?” 

“Yeah, man. It’s just one woman. You can have any woman you want.”

“She’s gone. Move on. Show her you don’t need her. That’ll bring her 

crawling back.”

“Or…find someone who looks like her. Train her. Same difference.” 

They didn’t understand. They’d witnessed his devotion, and they found it 

pathetic. What was so special about Amelia Evans? But the question itself 

betrayed their own yearning. They envied him, even as they mocked him. They 

were playboys, incapable of genuine connection, long forgetting what it meant to

truly love someone. Women were disposable.

But Silas was different. And they wanted to drag him down to their level. 

His affair with Bethany had been their victory. Now they couldn’t understand 

his grief, his regret.

Amelia on his phone. “Find someone who looks like her. The closer the better.

And get her here. Now.” He sent the manager a copy of the picture. 

The bar had connections with several escort services. It wouldn’t be difficult.

A few minutes later, a young woman with a passing resemblance to Amelia 

knocked on the door.“Excuse me…did someone order service?” she asked timidly,

pushing a cart laden with drinks and snacks.

The men inside exchanged surprised glances. She did look a bit like Amelia.

Younger, more naive, but there was a definite resemblance. They gestured for her

to approach Silas. They smiled, confident that he wouldn’t resist.

“Sir….is this the drink you ordered?” she asked softly.
