Emma gave me a contemptuous side–eye: “He didn’t want your baby. He said it was a
monster.”
“Ryan told me he hates having sex just to make babies.”
specially with an old woman like you – he said it was disgusting! He told me he didn’t want that baby, he wanted you to miscarry!”
I lunged at her suddenly, gripping her throat with all my strength.
She couldn’t get a word out, only broken screams forcing their way through her throat. Finally, she knew fear.
My whole body trembled, with only one thought: I want to kill them both.
“Autumn, what are you doing!”
Someone forcefully pulled me away.
Emma fell back with a pale face, terrified as she threw herself into the newcomer’s arms.
“Ryan, she’s gone crazy, Autumn’s lost it!”
Ryan frowned at me disapprovingly: “Autumn, I said everything was my fault. If you have
issues, take them out on me. Leave her out of it.”
I laughed and cried at once.
He reached to steady me, but I pushed his hand away, looking at him like a stranger:
“You lied to me!”
He paused: “What?”
I didn’t want to cry in front of him, but tears poured down like a broken dam, impossible to
stop.

“If you didn’t love me anymore, why keep lying?”
“Is it so hard to admit you fell out of love?”
“You clearly love someone else now, why won’t you divorce me?”
“Ryan, I hate you!”
I leaned weakly against the wall, slowly sliding down.
Finally crouching on the floor, sobbing uncontrollably.
Ryan stared at me blankly, then turned with a dark expression: “What did you tell her?”
Emma bit her lip, shaking her head with reddened eyes: “Baby, trust me…”
Ryan remained unmoved, his face grim, voice ice–cold: “Tell me. Now.”
Emma had never seen him like this. She stood frozen, not daring to move.
“Baby, I swear, I didn’t say anything… I just mentioned her miscarriage and she got like
this.”

Ryan’s face darkened: “Who told you to bring that up?”
His face went white as realization hit: “You told her about the miscarriage?”
Guilt flashed across Emma’s face as she stammered: “She forced me to tell her. I didn’t
mean to.”
