Chapter 7
Two police officers walked in, their brows furrowed when they saw Easton in nothing but a nightgown, barely covered by a cushion.
"What's going on here?"
Kaylee was the first to speak up.
"Officers, someone made a false report. There's nothing going on.
We just have a normal relationship."
"Oh? A normal relationship with a married man?"
I spoke out in surprise, which made Kaylee shoot me a venomous glare.
"What's really going on here?"
The police officer sternly demanded an answer from the two of them.
Easton shot me a fierce look. Coming from a well-respected academic family, with both parents being university professors about to retire, any scandal now would affect them greatly.
"Officers, I just had a little too much to drink, and I got confused.
I did something wrong to my wife, but as for what you're talking about-assault-it's absolutely not true."
After hearing this, the officer turned to look at me.
"Are you his wife?"
I pretended to wipe away a tear, feigning sadness.
"Yes, I just came home to grab some documents. When I walked in, I saw my husband with this woman. He had her pinned underneath him, and she was screaming in pain."
I still had a look of fear on my face, clutching the officer's hand as I pleaded.
"What do you mean by that?" Kaylee asked quietly.
I looked at her, a cold smile crossing my face as I saw her desire for fame.
"Do you want to seduce a married man, or do you want to appear as the victim in front of the public? You choose."
Kaylee didn't respond. Her head hung low, her fists clenched tightly. It was clear she was very hesitant.
I patted my bag and pulled open a corner of the zipper, revealing four property titles and several gold bars inside.
"I hope you remember the words you said when you stood up for Easton."
All the property I owned before marriage was in my own name.
In the five years I had been married to Easton, our joint assets consisted of one apartment, which was also in both our names.
