“No problem.” Maren agreed without hesitation. This was her opportunity to earn the favor of the Marshall

family.

“Then I’ll call you with the specifics.” After their conversation, Lucien turned and slid into his sleek sports car.

“Need a lift?” He glanced at Maren over his shoulder.

The guests from the Morgan family had all gathered outside, and those on the seventh floor, including Nadia,

could clearly see what was unfolding below. It wouldn’t do for Maren to leave the way she arrived, in a simple

taxi. That would raise too many questions.

“Sure.” Maren climbed into Lucien’s car.

They drove away from the hotel, heading toward a quieter road near the villa where Stormclaw and Isla were staying. When they reached the area, Maren stepped out of the car.

They were close enough to the villa that Maren decided to walk the rest of the way home.

As she approached her doorstep, Stormclaw and Isla were already waiting outside the villa.

“Maren, you handled everything superbly today!” Stormclaw couldn’t help but offer his praise.

His original goal had been to foster a solid relationship with the Marshall family, making their dealings smoother. He hadn’t expected Maren to so effortlessly pull Lucien, the Marshall family’s heir, into an alliance.

“You and Simon will be in charge of operations in Voutsas. Any concerns?” Maren asked as she entered the

living room.

“No concerns.” Stormclaw switched on the lights and poured several cups of coffee. With nothing to occupy him

in Voutsas except protecting Isla, he had plenty of time on his hands.

“Good.” Maren nodded, then updated Stormclaw on some details, including her private conversation with

Lucien earlier. Afterward, she retreated, to her room.

Tomorrow, Isla would begin her journey at Voutsas Middle School, so Stormclaw remained in the living room, continuing Isla’s tutoring session.

Maren, meanwhile, went to bed early to prepare for the island survival competition the following day.

The hours slipped by, and soon, dawn broke.

By morning, Maren and Stormclaw accompanied Isla to school, completing her registration and even

exchanging a few words with the principal.

“Hop in.” Lucien’s red sports car was parked by the curb. As the window lowered, his face appeared, his gaze meeting hers.

“What are you doing here?” Maren asked, surprised, though she quickly climbed into the car.

“I’m taking you to meet with your classmates.” Lucien’s eyes frequently flicked to the rearview mirror as they

drove to the Harborstone Hotel.

“Are we being followed?” Maren glanced over her shoulder, noticing a car trailing them from a distance.

“My father’s sharp. After I told him about us last night, he sent someone to shadow me, likely to investigate

and confirm everything. It won’t be easy to shake them off, so I came to pick you up to make it seem more

convincing,” Lucien explained.

So it was someone from the Marshall family.

Naturally, as the heir to the prestigious Marshall family, being involved with a girlfriend from the underworld

was bound to draw suspicion from the family.

“Do I need to meet your family?” Maren asked, already resigned to the inevitable.

“Let’s wait until the competition is over,” Lucien replied. “And make sure you give it your best shot. If those
