Chapter 25 Revenge Begins
Wilbur was the most taken aback. He recalled seeing someone at the racetrack who bore a striking resemblance
to Maren, a notion they had initially scoffed at.
Now, as the memory crept up on him, he felt an unsettling shiver.
Earlier, both he and Bobby had mocked Maren. Their expressions now betrayed a sense of deep embarrassment.
Maren’s eyebrows lifted in mild surprise. Was her cover blown?
Catching a glimpse of her bracelet, she realized her carelessness that day.
She had nearly revealed herself during an encounter with Sawyer, and now, she risked recognition once again.
At this point, all eyes were fixed on Maren, their looks bordering on disbelief.
However, one person reacted differently.
“Wilbur, what’s all this fuss about? It’s just a bracelet. Look, I have one just like it,” Nadia chimed in, displaying
her wrist adorned with a similar bracelet.
Wilbur and the rest were visibly confounded.
“Nadia, where did you find that?”
“Yes, where did you get that?”
All at once, everyone turned to Nadia for answers.
With a calm demeanor, Nadia explained, “Didn’t you realize? The race tonight was streamed, and fans found
the racer’s outfit online instantly. This bracelet was sold right here in Baimsa. I wasn’t the only one who rushed
out; it was a craze. By the time I got there, they were almost sold out, so I grabbed a few.”
She then produced three more bracelets from her pocket, adding, “Many who couldn’t make it to the race
bought them too.”
Bobby looked on, dumbfounded. “Seriously? That’s what you rushed out to buy?”
On the way back, Nadia had gone off to shop alone, leaving Bobby and the others waiting for quite a while.
So even though Sawyer had delayed Maren, she still ended up getting home well before the rest of them.
“That’s right. It’s the same as the one our idol wore!” Suddenly, Nadia seemed to recall something and turned to Maren with a quizzical expression. “Maren, you said you weren’t interested in taking after that racer. So why
did you buy this bracelet before any of us who actually saw the race?”
“This is my own bracelet.” Maren wasn’t keen on further discussion; revealing more would not serve her well.
With that, she ascended the stairs alone.

It wasn’t until Maren had responded that Wilbur managed to relax a bit, unaware that his shirt was soaked
with sweat.
He repeatedly assured himself that the person he admired couldn’t possibly be Maren, whom he considered
beneath him.
Despite Maren’s claims of disinterest, she had somehow acquired the bracelet before anyone else. And this
made Wilbur disdain her even more.
Nadia’s gaze towards Maren was filled with scorn, too.
Maren, unfazed, found comfort in being underestimated by those around her.
Bobby, growing restless, turned on the television.
The broadcast was reporting a tragic accident. Police had discovered a wrecked racing car off a cliff, confirming
the driver had tragically died from the crash.
Everyone in the room turned their attention to the screen, including Maren, who halted her ascent up the stairs.
Bobby, fixated on the TV, exclaimed, “That looks like Mr. Lee’s car!”
Images of the car flashed on the screen.
Wilbur, Nadia, and the others crowded around the television, scrutinizing the photos.
“That’s definitely Mr. Lee’s car!”
The broadcast shifted to a gruesome scene where police were extracting a body from the wreckage.
The visual was harrowing: the body mangled, the head brutally damaged, with blood and brain matter
gruesomely intermixed, creating a horrifying spectacle.
Nadia, visibly disturbed by the violent images, instinctively sought comfort by clinging to Wilbur.
“Those are Mr. Lee’s clothes!” Cullum pointed out.
The face was too damaged to tell, but the clothes left no doubt.
It was Marcus–the one everyone had come to see race tonight.
Just a few hours earlier, Marcus had been alive, full of laughter and conversation.
