Chapter 321 Don’t You
Remember Me
“Who is your target?” Maren demanded, her eyes narrowing.
“I swear, I have no clue! Please–just let me go!” the captive cried, voice cracking with desperation. He had never been told why their target mattered. Higgs never shared details.
Maren didn’t respond. With calm precision, she twisted his neck–swift, silent, final.
Compassion? That was for the guiltless. If the tables were turned, they’d have ended her without blinking. Maren didn’t mourn mercenaries obeying commands like machines.
“Come on. We’re going in.”
Maren tossed the words over her shoulder to Sawyer and broke into a run toward the house.
Inside, Joseph–just shy of seventy–was reclined on the couch, scanning a medical digest as he waited for Lucien to pick him up.
He’d retired from a long career in medicine and returned to Voutsas to enjoy the quiet. But when Kashton, the student he’d mentored, called in panic–and the Marshalls‘ deal was mentioned–Joseph agreed to assist.
Then chaos erupted, and the door slammed open. A swarm of armed strangers rushed in.
“Who are you?” Joseph gasped, nearly dropping the journal in his lap.
He’d always pictured Voutsas as a haven–crime–free, peaceful, and secure. Its reputation for stamping out gang activity was legendary. That belief was one of the reasons he’d returned. So how had intruders managed to invade his home under cover of darkness?
“You’re Joseph Schneider, aren’t you?” one of the strangers asked, completely ignoring what he’d just said.
“What are you people after?” A cold unease crept into Joseph’s gut.
Once they had his name confirmed, the men shared wicked grins. “Don’t take it personally. Somebody out there wants you erased. We’re just delivering the message.”
“What? You’d actually go that far?”
Terror gripped Joseph’s chest like a vice.
Had he known danger now walked Voutsas‘ streets, he would’ve never set foot back here.
“Help! Anyone! Please!” he yelled, scrambling to flee.
But age slowed him. He barely got up from the sofa before they surrounded him.

Chapter 321 Don’t You Remember Me
One attacker pulled out a blade.
“Your time’s up, fossil.”
Without pausing, the thug lunged forward, blade aimed at Joseph’s heart.
“Ah!” Joseph screamed as instinct forced his eyes shut. The steel hadn’t touched him yet, but dread alone sent a cry ripping through his throat.
“Stop!”
Maren appeared in the doorway, grabbed a slipper, and flung it. Her throw smacked the weapon clean from the
man’s grasp.
Their heads turned in shock.
“Who the hell do you think you are? This ain’t your fight,” the unarmed man barked. All attention shifted to
Maren.
Maren gave no response. Instead, she sprinted forward and launched a barrage of ruthless kicks, sending the attackers flying and clearing the path to Joseph.
“What the hell? She’s a beast!”
One man groaned in agony, grabbing his ribs as he crashed down.
Maren didn’t stop. A swift roll across the floor brought her to the knife. She seized it, then moved like lightning -slashing throats, toppling bodies.
Blood sprayed across the walls. Agonized cries rang out. Victims dropped in seconds.
“She’s an assassin! Everyone–get her!” someone shouted. Realizing they’d underestimated her, over ten men armed themselves and charged as one from all angles.
It made no difference. Maren weaved through their attacks like a shadow, every movement precise and lethal.
A dozen came at her. A dozen fell.
They had no hope.
“Not bad. Very efficient,” Sawyer remarked as he stepped into view, just as the final corpse hit the floor. “You’d have done the same,” Maren said with composed detachment, offering him a brief nod before shifting her gaze toward Joseph. As her eyes settled on him, a peculiar recognition stirred within her. She couldn’t place it, but his face stirred something in her memory. “You’re out of danger now, sir.”
“Much obliged,” Joseph murmured, his hands still quivering. The shock had nearly overwhelmed his aging
