Chapter 325 Put On A Show
Nadia stood frozen, disbelief washing over her at Higgs‘ audacious plan. “Have you completely lost your mind? Calvert’s on the brink of death, poisoned and heavily guarded. If you’re caught, you’re as good as dead!”
Higgs was playing a deadly game with both their lives on the line.
Higgs was fully aware this was a high–stakes maneuver with no room for error.
“There’s no alternative. The only way to guarantee Calvert’s death is another dose. Get dressed, you’re coming
with me.”
Higgs voice cracked like a whip as he ordered Nadia up. Time was running out. Joseph could have an antidote
any moment now.
“What did you just say?” Maren blinked, stunned. “Why are you dragging me into your madness?”
If Higgs got caught, she’d be collateral damage.
“We’re in this together. I’m not taking this risk alone,” Higgs said, a dark smile curling on his lips.
“You bastard!”
Rage surged through Nadia like wildfire.
This vile man didn’t care if she lived or died.
Her mind flickered to Wilbur–foolish in love with Maren, perhaps, but he would’ve never thrown her to the
wolves.
“I never claimed to be a saint. You came to me. Regrets now? Bit too late, sweetheart,” Higgs sneered. “Enough talking. Come with me, or I’ll use the poison on you.”
He held up the poison and waved it in front of her face.
Panic gripped Nadia immediately. “Fine! I’ll go with you!”
Resistance was pointless. She was out of options.
After Nadia dressed in silence, Higgs dragged her out of the hotel and sped to the hospital, where Calvert clung
to life.
Even behind the wheel, Higgs‘ hands lingered where they shouldn’t.
Nadia recoiled from his touch, but Higgs brushed off her protests like they were nothing.
Upon arrival, his grip only tightened–he knew Nadia would bolt if he let go.
“Grandpa, it’s me, Higgs. I came as soon as I heard!”
As he stepped inside, Higgs became a master performer–eyes brimming with fake tears, voice trembling with

pretend emotions he rushed to Calvert’s bedeste
“When did this to you, Brendps? Who we are? 1 we, 18 mark them pay
The art was flawless no one doubted a MAA
Only Lucien seemed unmoved “Charming of you to slove up When Grandes bay by pre hunting foll with women Didn’t think you had it in you to show
Being Calvert’s grandson himesil, Higgs couldn’t possibly have missed the news he simply hader cared to
come until now
“Lucien, I’ve been drowning in work. I only just heard about Grandpa,” Higgs Sed without digging best
Lucien responded with a bitter, knowing chuckle
He didn’t believe a word, but chose not to waste his breath
Unease twisted in Higgs‘ gut, this wasn’t the time to duel with Lucien
With all attention now on him, he couldn’t make a move–slipping the poison was impossible
He needed a window–a single moment to act.
But just as he opened his mouth, Lucien beat him to it. “Higgs, what’s Nadia doing here with you?”
Lucien, having already dug into Maren’s past, knew Nadia on sight. He’d seen her before. He hadn’t anticipated seeing Nadia with Higgs of all people.
“Since when did my life become your business?” Nadia snapped, glaring icily at Lucien
She hadn’t forgotten how Lucien and Maren had humiliated her and Wilbur at the restaurant, though she didn’t know it wasn’t Lucien back then–it was Sawyer, disguising as Lucien
Lucien remained clueless about the shame Nadia had endured the day before.
“Relax. Just passing the time. No worries if you don’t want to answer.” Lucien couldn’t care less about their personal squabbles, but seeing Higgs and Nadia standing side by side? That spelled trouble in bold letters.
Lucien decided to keep his guard up–watching both Higgs and Nadia with suspicion.
An uneasy silence settled over the room.
