At Tyler’s command, his lackeys quickly armed themselves and departed in haste.

From her perch in the tree, Maren saw the Angels of Death rearrange themselves just as she had foreseen, her lips curling into a slight smirk.

She had previously faced off against elite international military forces.

In comparison, these local gangsters were mere clowns, nowhere near the caliber of trained military personnel.

Maren dismissed the team searching for her and focused her sniper rifle on Tyler’s protective circle.

She took her shot.

“She’s running away!” one of his men called out. As they prepared to fire, Maren had already sprung from her position in the tree and disappeared into the shadows.

“She thinks she can just run off like that?” Tyler was furious.

He had already failed to catch Stormclaw, and now was he really being outsmarted by a woman?

“Follow my lead, everyone!”

As Maren led the charge through the dense forest, her pursuers tried desperately to keep up. They plunged deeper into the thick woods.

“We’ve lost her,” one of his men said.

Tyler found himself disoriented, encircled by dense foliage.

In some areas, the grass grew as high as their waists, and in others, it was even taller, severely limiting their visibility.

Out of nowhere, the silence was shattered by the sound of a gunshot.

“Ah!”

One of Tyler’s men collapsed.

“Stay vigilant!” Tyler commanded loudly.

Right after his command, a bullet struck Tyler.

The bullet fortunately didn’t hit his heart.

Nearby, Curt quickly rushed to Tyler and silenced him by clamping his hand over his mouth.

“Keep quiet. She’s locating us by our sounds,” Curt said, showcasing his sharp instincts as Tyler’s most trusted

bodyguard.

He instantly figured out Maren’s tactics.

Curt’s words brought immediate silence to the group.

The lackeys were filled with fear. They had a rough idea of the direction from which the shots were fired, but

the thick foliage made it impossible to see their assailant.
