Chapter 65 Under Attack
Maren tracked the coordinates Stormclaw sent to
a
secluded cave on the edge of the western district.
The cave housed six crates filled to the brim with weapons and ammunition.
She lifted a sniper rifle from one of the crates, its pristine condition signaling it had never been used.
“Frank’s really pulled out all the stops, enlisting the Angels of Death to eliminate me. Quite the spender.”
Earlier, on a lesser–known route out of the city, Maren had run into a couple of people from the Angels of Death
on patrol. After a forceful interrogation, she unraveled more of the plot.
The idea that the Sovereign Underworld was targeting her again didn’t faze her.
Since the incident with Marcus, she’d been ready for their move. She wasn’t troubled by it.
They were all traitors in her eyes, and she was set on wiping them out one by one.
It seemed Stormclaw had linked the Angels of Death with the Sovereign Underworld during his intel collection.
After intercepting this shipment of weapons and finding surveillance intensified with no safe paths into the city,
he opted to temporarily hide the cargo here.
Concerned about leaving the weapons unattended for too long, Stormclaw had called on Maren to take over.
Maren, actively working to extend her influence, found that acquiring military resources was currently her top
priority.
“The area is thick with the people from the Angels of Death, their security impenetrable. To transport these weapons into the city, I must first confront them.”
Selecting a sniper rifle from the cache, Maren affixed a silencer, secured a short dagger to her side, and loaded plenty of ammunition.
Additionally, she took several explosives from the stash.
After preparing herself, Maren called Simon.
She knew that once the shooting started, the Angels of Death would quickly learn of the disturbance and send
extra forces.
While they posed no significant threat to her, their interference would distract her from moving the weapons. She required assistance.

“Simon, gather a few of your most reliable men and head to the western outskirts. There’s a shipment that needs picking up. Only bring along those you trust completely.”
“What’s in the shipment?” Simon asked. “The Angels of Death might be stirring up trouble in that area today. Our team might face resistance without adequate support.”

Chapter 65 Under Attack
The western district
was under the Onyx’s control, where they kept a close watch on any unusual activities on
the fringes.
The full scope of the Angels of Death’s plans was unclear.
Yet, by the urgency in Maren’s voice, Simon guessed it involved her directly.
“No questions. Just follow my instructions. I’ll fill you in later. Don’t worry about the Angels of Death; I’ll
handle them. Your task is to stay hidden, get to the location I’ll send you, and secure the cargo,” Maren
instructed decisively.
“Understood!” Simon responded with resolve, feeling the weight of Maren’s instructions. He ended the call and promptly departed.
Simultaneously, Maren exited the cave.
She advanced towards the location where the Angels of Death was based.
Maren held off on initiating an attack. Instead, she located a tall tree and climbed to an elevated position for
better surveillance.
“Quite the setup for Baimsa’s top gang. They’re more competent than I anticipated.”
Peering through her sniper scope, Maren surveyed the camp. Guards were stationed meticulously throughout the area, leaving virtually no coverage gaps.
One area that caught her attention was the narrow southern path she had used before. Although she had previously cleared out its patrols, it was now under watch again.
This indicated that they were efficiently communicating and swiftly reinforcing any weaknesses.
“There it is.”
Her focus shifted to a makeshift tent nestled in the northeast corner.
Among several tents, this one stood out due to the density of guards surrounding it.
Conventional wisdom would suggest that the western perimeter, the entry point for weapons from outside the
city, would be most fortified. The eastern and southeastern sectors should have been more vulnerable.
This arrangement suggested something unusual.
“They must be really shaken up. Stormclaw’s actions have them spooked,” Maren said with a smirk.
The convergence of maximum security in what appeared to be the safest zone indicated a high–value presence.
A single precise shot could plunge the area into disarray.
At that moment, Maren noticed some activity through her scope. A group had just reached the camp’s
outskirts and halted.
Simon was leading the group.
“Just in time.”
