Upon opening the gift box, Maren was surprised to see a bracelet inside.

She automatically touched her wrist, recalling the bracelet she had left next to Tyler’s body.

“Are you tracking me?” Maren asked, pressing a dagger against Sawyer’s throat.

It seemed unlikely to her that this gift was chosen at random.

Clearly, he must have been aware that her previous bracelet was missing. Given that this had just occurred, it suggested she was being watched.

“Take that away from him!” Zane exclaimed, drawing his weapon and aiming it at Maren’s head, appalled by her aggressive response.

As she noticed the absence of any aggression from Sawyer, Maren gradually eased the pressure from her dagger.

“I’m not going to kill you today, but let’s maintain some distance between us. I don’t trust you, and you know that,” she said, then spun around to leave.

Her return to the military academy was urgent.

“Sir, you’re being overly forgiving with her!” Zane complained after Maren had left.
