"Are you a werewolf?" I hesitantly asked. He scoffed at me.
"Definitely not." He replied, seemingly amused with his game but I wasn't going to give up.
"Are you human?"
"Nope I'm not that either." He simply replied. I was stunned but not at the same time.
"I give up, what are you?" I sighed. Acting like this conversation was completely normal.
"I'm not going to tell you. I want you to figure it out." Thomas smiled at me as he said this. I went to ask Amy but he cut me off, "and don't even think of asking Amy. Supernaturals aren't allowed to reveal other supernaturals identity to a non magical. Seriously."
I huffed.
"Thomas, if you don't tell me, I swear I am going to leave. I think I'm taking all of this pretty damn well. But if you think I'm going to trust you and stay here with you, when you won't trust me with what you are, you are mistaken." I fumed. I couldn't believe he didn't trust me enough to tell me.
There were three supernatural races. The werewolves, the vampires, and the witches. They didn't exactly get along with each other well but there was a council that the strongest of each race was on, this council made their laws and helped to enforce them to keep the peace. Individually and as a group when called for. Their biggest rule was to not harm humans, who were basically ignorant of and obsolete to all supernaturals. Not harming humans also meant to keep the existence of supernaturals a secret. No one really knew where supernaturals came from. But they had been around for as long as history has been recorded. Supernaturals could tell each species from how the smelled, though each person smelled different depending on your race you also gave off a different smell.
Witches smelled of sage and whatever their personal smell was. So Amy smelled of sage and pine trees(Thomas explained that part). Witches were powerful but limited. To do magic they had to pull the energy from somewhere, either themselves or something near. There was black magic that could be done by using energy from other people and animals but it was forbidden. The magic they did came at a cost. They were immortal and somewhat fast healing, they stopped aging around 25. Witches were hard to kill but the most common way was by being beheaded. A werewolf or vampire bite was also a surefire way to kill a witch, unless they were mates. The oldest witch alive was over 1000 years old. Witches typically claimed land to live in and called it a coven, each with its own leader, called a priest or priestess, usually both as a mated pair. It was no secret that most witches seek power and couldn't be trusted. They are often sneaky.
Vampires smelled of peppermint plus whatever their personal smell was. So Thomas smelled of peppermint and lemon(Amy shared). Vampires were very fast and strong. Their bodies healed faster than witches as long as they fed frequently. Feeding on any living person was forbidden unless given consent. Apparently, vampires run most of the blood banks. They also made blood substitutes. Witch blood was fatal to vampires and werewolf blood tasted awful to them. Vampires were also immortal, they usually stopped aging around 25. The most typical way to kill a vampire was to pierce them through the heart. Vampires typically were ruled in groups under a leader, called their Lord or Lady, usually both as a mated pair. While vampires were under their ruling they typically spread out, but still reported back. Vampires were typical quiet and reserved. Calculating and manipulative. They also hold grudges sometimes for hundreds of years.
Werewolves smelled of cedar wood and their own personal scent. Werewolves healed the fastest of all. They could shift from human to wolf and back at any point they chose after their first shift. The first shift depended on how strong or mentally ready the person and wolf were. Usually the person would sense their wolf before the shift. The first shift was painful but after that it was quick and almost effortless, it usually occurred between 13 and 16. Werewolves were also immortal, they usually stopped aging once they hit 25 also. The most common way to kill a werewolf was to fully rip their heart out, or to behead them. A werewolf's bite was lethal to the other races, excluding humans. Werewolves usually claimed a territory and called it their pack lands, they were the most like a family. Their pack consisted of everyone who was accepted into their group with a ceremony. Pack members could communicate telepathically through their mind link. Packs were ran first by the alpha or Luna, usually as a mated pair, with the beta and third after them. Werewolves were strong. Usually very muscular. They were faster than humans but not as fast as vampires. Werewolves often had tempers and were very territorial. If a werewolf was banned from their pack they would slowly become savages called rogues.
